Been looking online at Vtec Toot Toots and I don't get it. Do you need a track ? Do they move along or do you have to push them? They have lights and sounds yes?

What is a good starter set for a 18Mth old likes animals & cars ?

Hate them. In fact I've just sold them all on Facebook today. The track is a nightmare to piece together as the male/female ends don't always match up. You'll be merrily building a track and then find that suddenly you've switched to a male/female connector. We had only 2 pieces that were both ends male/both ends female and they were like gold dust. The cars are relentlessly cheerful and continue to sing their little hearts out. The train track was quite good, but you need the little train that moves by itself, which obviously we lost.

The wooden brio train is so much more versatile and flexible, and therefore child friendly. Glad to see the back of those wretched toot toots!

My DS loved the garage but the noises drove me crazy. We moved recently and it never quite made it into the new house...he hasn't asked for it once! He's just turned 3 and has a road rug and plays endlessly with it without all the annoying noises!!

Happy land train is much better if you are after plastic! Otherwise wooden all the way.
Toot toot stuff is awful as already said.

We have a couple of Toot Toots, no track. I don't think they're that entertaining.

Can second the Happyland train. We bought a small set 2nd hand and ended up buying more track from eBay. DS played with it for years. As he was getting older he and his DGF would build the most elaborate tracks. It really was worth every penny.

Don't do it!

There's always loads on our local FB pages, and there's a reason for that

I often find the catchy jingles going round in my head randomly too.

I am the useful tow truck, getting ready to tow cars.

The morning after a very rare night out I was in bed attempting a lie in. Someone had knocked the fire station into its side and the siren was going off endlessley. Not one single person in the house got up to turn it off. Apparently kids can't actually hear it even in the same room!

"I'm a cow, I make milk it's delicious and nutritious!"

We have one, it is enough.

Discotits · 16/09/2017 08:49

Oh yeah, we also have a pig. 'I really love my curly tail!' That one is annoying.

We have a handful of the cars, and the garage which is played with all the time. The children like them. I love them and love the songs, too. It makes me smile when I hear a song coming from the bottom of the toy box beep beep Grin

Potsy (made by the other parent-hating company Leap Frog) was quietly binned the other week. So far the kids haven't noticed

We've got the singing picnic basket "can you see something orange? The orange is orange teeheehee!" FUCK OFF

DD loves the Toot Toot stuff and she's just turned 2.

She's got about 10 or so animals, a few vehicles and a train set. Some of them are motorised and move along the track on their own, others need pushing.

A favourite game is lining them all up and starting them all singing at the same time.
