9 month old upset at end of mealtimes

Hi everyone.
My little one has been weaned since 6 months and has loved everything he has tried so far. He is a brilliant eater and has a super appetite. The problem I am having at the moment is as soon as he sees me putting away his empty bowl or even notices that's his food is finished, he screams and works himself into a state. Sometimes I can't even give him his pudding as he is so upset at seeing his bowl empty! It appears to just be frustration but I don't think he needs more food as he would just continue to eat until he was sick I think as once he has calmed down he is fine and happily goes until his next meal with maybe a few little snacks in between. He is gaining weight perfectly also. I am at a bit of a loss how to help him. I put finger foods out in the hope they would occupy him bit it doesn't seem to make a difference.
Anyone who has experienced similar who could offer any advice? Thanks in advance
