Daughter poos in potty at home - but in her pants at other peoples' houses?!

My daughter will happily use the potty or toilet at home for both wees and poos, but when we are at someone elses' house she always poos in her pants (although never wets her pants). I can't figure out what the issue is as she clearly has enough bowel control to make it to the potty, and dislikes the sensation of poo in her pants - she tells me immediately that she has been and instantly tries to take her pants and trousers off. Has anyone else experienced the same problem? Please help!

My dd has this but with wee - she won't tell me she needs the potty in another person's house and then gets incredibly distressed when the inevitable happens and she gets wet. She's fine in our house, but outside situations tend to throw her a little. For the time being I'm afraid I'm taking the coward's way out and she's wearing a nappy when we go out for the day.

How old is your dd? Mine is 2.1 and at home and nursery she's a genius on the loo - perhaps it's just that being in a 'strange' place throws them? Or they're having too much fun at their friends' houses to think about the potty?

I made a big deal of explaining to my children that the place we were at 'had a toilet' and we wouldn't have to leave if they needed to go .. I would then show them where it was and reiterate 'so if you need a wee-wee or poo we can go here and you can go back to play'

then I'd check with them every half hour or so

I think sometimes they do forget in teh early stages

when I say show them where it is .. I would take them by the hand and open the door and actually really show them the toilet
