Very very silly question about potties

DS did a wee in his potty tonight.

As we are not potty training I don't really have a clue what to do next.

Is it a simple case of chuck it down the loo then wipe around with bog roll? or rinse the potty out? or what?

chuck down the loo, rinse with water and wipe dry.

We let DS's help chuck it, with a big cheer and clapping all round for extra encouragement.

MeanBean · 14/07/2004 21:36

I'd scream and shout with joy, tell him what a clever boy he is, chuck it down the loo and rinse it out. And maybe start potty training if you think you're both ready?

fisil · 14/07/2004 21:36

Right, I am going to be really really dim here. Where do I get the water from?

Something like Dettox is good to use for a final clean, safe to use on surfaces that children will touch but kills the germs. Also good for highchair trays, changing mats and almost everything else! I'm not on commission I promise

hmb · 14/07/2004 21:37

The sink?

fisil · 14/07/2004 21:37

and yes, we had big celebrations. Big cheers and hugs and a great deal fo clapping. DS joined in it all, but looked quite pained about the whole business. He isn't ready (or maybe you're right meanbean - I'm not ready!)

I know hmb. But I'm going to clean my teeth in there tonight.

Errrr,.....a tap!?!?!?!?!? sorry had to giggle there.

Our only loo is in the bathroom so we havetwo taps to choose from, sink and bath, but if you've chucked it down the loo were no sink is just rinse in the the kitchen sink and chuck down the loo again.

hmb · 14/07/2004 21:40

If you are worried use Dettox with a bit of kitchen roll!

daisy1999 · 14/07/2004 21:41

fisil you are creasy me up here!! Have you got a tap?

fisil · 14/07/2004 21:41

oh dear, I really am being silly. I usually welcome germs into my home and feel that their existence is a good learning experience for DS' immune system etc. etc. But the thought that one day he will do a big stinker in there and then I rinse it out in the bathroom or kitchen sink.

OK, now I've written it down it does look silly.

Bath taps? Would that be better?

emmatmg · 14/07/2004 21:42

You know, some people drink wee so that might be a opintion

fisil · 14/07/2004 21:44

Emmatmg - then he could be a rugby player when he's older - cool! Right, problem solved.

Fisil (hugs)

Just you wait till he curls a long one!!!

Tissy · 14/07/2004 23:27

erm... we empty the potty in the loo, then hold it under the flush and sluice out a couple of times while the flush is still going! had never thought of using the taps! Having said that we've only had 2 wees so far, so not had to cope with poo yet!

HTH

Goodness me, what a fastidious lot you are. In the frog household we add water to whatever is in the potty (using the bath taps, since you ask), pour it all down the loo, rinse and repeat (as it says on the shampoo bottles). Actually I have't had to do it for a while as ds is now five, but dd2 is 6 months, and frankly should be using the big loo by now.

daisy1999 · 14/07/2004 23:40

Please stoppppp! I am literally peeing myself now!

MadameButterfly · 15/07/2004 00:46

I pour whatever is in the potty down the toilet and rinse it out in the basin

pepsi · 15/07/2004 00:59

When my Mum was over once and ds did a wee in the potty she first added extra water to the pee, tipped it down the loo, then rinsed it out and wiped it, I do it like this and it sort of feels better that way, dont know why its just one of those things I learnt from my Mum. If you are worried use the bath tap.....they wee when they are in the bath anyway dont they.

frogs · 15/07/2004 01:14

pepsi -- sad, but true, I fear.

carla · 15/07/2004 01:21

Oh ........ I want another baby

carla · 15/07/2004 01:31

BTW, I bunged both dd's on the loo, cutting out the middleman

Hulababy · 15/07/2004 13:18

I pour down toilet, rinse with water and pour that down toilet too. Then wipe it dry. Every so often is give it a proper wash - when I do the bathroom. Often DD will do the initial pouring away herself - fortunately she has gone aim!
