small bit of mucusy/blood stuff in nappy?

I wondering if anyone can help me as I'm feeling a little concerned right now and not sure what to do. DD is 2 weeks old and I found a small bit of mucusy blood in her nappy tonight - haven't noticed it before and also saw that she has quite a raw bottom right near her anus. She has just had a boughtof thrush to that has only just cleared up (due to antibiotics at the birth - for me).
Should I be taking her to my GP first thing tomorrow or is this common in new born? Any ideas would really be appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Cath

It could well be that little 'period' that girl babies have two weeks after birth - they've had so many female sex hormones in thier little bodies that this is common, apparently. DP spotted it with dd1. Don't think dd2 had it, but often it's just hidden in a poo.

HTH.

I'm sure that it's nothing to worry about but to be on the safe side give your HV a quick ring.
