my dd is 2yrs 2 months. she frequently tells me when she's filling her nappy etc so i bit the bullet today and put her into pants. to start with she was fine, she had several accidents and i didnt make a big deal, just gently reminded her where the wee wee goes etc. well, the more the day went on the more and more upset she got about sitting on the potty, during the day we had about 10 accidents and nothing done on the pot. she wasnt even telling us when she was wet, in the end about 6pm i put her a napppy back on as she got really really upset when i asked her to try on the potty as she was crouching down and wet herself again. i felt terrible for her, do you think i should persevere tomorrow or leave it a bit longer?? just not sure how much good it would be doing if she's so unhappy about sitting on the potty

Just typed long message and lost it!! Computer really slow and driving me mad!!
Anyway i'll try and do short version - I left my children till three years to toilet train - felt a bit of odd one out - most of their friends had been in pants for 6 months so poss bit embarassing but they all learned quickly.
I would say if she's upset you should wait for a couple of months and then try again. Someone suggested I got a small toilet seat rather than a potty - about £10 from mothercare. Its been really good.
Good luck!

Why not wait until it's a bit warmer, let her go around with a bare bottom, leave the potty out...

thanks keziah, i thought that might be the case, i'll have a look at one of those seats then, baby no 2 due in july so we thought it might be worth a try as its not funny anymore when i cant get back up off the floor after changing her

tooticky, we really wanted to do that but she's awful at scratching. she's got slight -- i cannot spell it - EXMA - you know what i mean!!!!! and as soon as she gets a bit of bare flesh she scratches away bless her, on thing we're worried about with summer coming up. thanks a lot for your advice though, we might try that with a longer dress though!!
