Would you leave a two year old to play alone in their bedroom/playroom?

If so how often would you check on her?

I'm not going to express an opinion because I don't want to influence any replies.

With a baby, I have to sometimes. I make sure the kitchen door is closed. She's a climber, but a safe one. She goes up and down the stairs on her own. Mostly, she follows me around, but sometimes not.

I leave DD for as long as I can possibly get away with. She will generally follow me around though but recently (she is 2.10) she has started getting more independent. Yesterday she cleaned the bathroom with furniture polish (homemade concoction of olive oil, lavendar oil etc so not too toxic). She was most indigant later on when I said I was going to go clean it "i've already done it mummy".

Yes, assuming the environment is safe, etc...I mean...I ahve 3 Kids...and they often spend time in different rooms...hard to watch them all all the time, lol!
As for checking as often as I can, I suppose.

I leave my 15mo to play on his own downstairs a lot. I have carefully baby-proofed the area, and since the house is very small and open-plan I can always hear what he's up to. Every so often he does devise a new way to get at things he's not supposed to (found him in the dustbin eating stale toast crusts a few days ago, which made me feel like I'd won the Worst Mother Ever award), but so far I've been able to come up with a new way to keep dangerous things away from him. He seems to like playing on his own, and I like the chance to write uninterrupted.

Yes I did with ds1 and will do with ds2 most probably. Can hear ds1 wherever he is and if it goes quiet I'll check on him. He usually comes and checks on me tbh after a few minutes.
