So we are soon going to bite the bullet and go on a road trip with then 11 month DD and then at 13 go on holiday on a plane.

Does anybody have any ideas for toys or tips to make it as painless as possible.

iPad

These buckle toys are brilliant and entertained my DD on many flights. We fly a few times a year and keep the travel toys in the travel bag, in the loft. That way they don't lose their novelty.

Oh and fiddly snacks that take a while to eat.

Go to the pound shop, buy everything that could have some play value (little net of bricks/craft stuff/toy tea set) wrap each one up in tissue paper/wrapping paper and produce one wrapped 'surprise' every 45minures or so. Works a treat!

Post it notes to draw on then stick everywhere, great fun!

Oh and snacks, lots of small snacks.

Mini Aqua doodle-all you need is water!
Lots of little presents/snacks, I wrapped mine up and they loved unwrapping them
Sticker activity books
CBeebies mags or similar
I aimed to give them something new every 30 mins, even if it was just a box of raisins in wrapping paper!

Stacking cups are good. They take up no room and can be used on beach, in pool, in bath for hair washing/playing, on dry land etc. Ours were going for years.

CBeebies magazine
Sticker book with crayons
iPad
Chocolate

Done!

Heirhelp · 05/02/2017 16:08

She does not watch CBeebies so does not know the characters. Should we still get her the magazine?

Try a sticker book instead then. The Usborne ones are great. Loads of themes.

Deffo wrap up every little thing in wrapping paper to make more exciting but also more exiting

We got glove puppets as main activity as you can make up stories with them, and loads of games like hide and seek etc
