What did your babies weigh and what size clothes were they in?

Hello, when born Ds1 was 7lb1 and Ds2 7lb9 and both were in first size/tiny baby clothes as newborn size swamped them massively when born. Nine years on and I'm expecting Ds3 and have been told he's measuring a week ahead. So what im asking is what size clothes do I pack for him in my hospital bag? I've brought the sweetest little coming home outfit and I'm afraid it won't fit.

9lb 9 oz. She went into up to 1 months clothes and they last a week. They vests were a bit tight. She was /is on the 98% for height.

Have you asked your mw to guess the weight of the a baby as most baby clothes will also give a weight guide.

10lb 1oz up to 10lb and 0-3 fit him. Only had newborn with me 😂

6lb 13oz and 7lb 4oz here. I just put them in newborn size. It didn't take them long to grow into them.

8lb 15oz, 7lb 15oz, 0-3 months definitely

5lb 13oz tiny baby for about 2 weeks and then new born

5lb 3oz...tiny baby was still too big! He had to have tiny baby nappies too. He was in them for about a month before he went up to new born

5lb 12oz and she was in first size and newborn. She was very long though which meant we had to move to very baggy 0-3 quickly.

Watch out though OP I had a growth scan three weeks before dd was born and was told her estimated weight was 6lb 3oz at that time. The measurements can be wrong!

Aww Sou sounds very similar to dd. She had tiny baby nappies and she is still only in size 3 now at nearly 11 months. She is following her line but is like a doll.

8lb 3oz, was in newborn for a good few weeks.

7lb 6 and 8lb 2.
Both wore newborn for a couple of months

9lb 2.5oz, he managed newborn for about a week before having to move up to 0-3.
8lb 12, 8lb 8, 8lb 6 all went into 0-3 but they were quite baggy to start with especially on the littler 2.
10lb 5, little heifer went straight into 0-3 and they lasted about a fortnight.

I wouldn't worry too much about measuring 1 week ahead. There is a margin for error. Usually 2 weeks according to my midwife. I'm currently measuring 10 weeks ahead and have been told to expect another chunky one!

Also, babies can be more than a little bit scrunched up when they're born after being inside for so long, so the outfit will probably be fine.

dc1 8lb 2ozs newborn for about 4 days then a major rush to get 0-3 as I hadn't thought to buy any though newborn would last a month at least.

dc2 6lb 14oz newborn

dc3 6lb 11oz but was short had to run out and get tiny baby as soon as out of hospital.

dc4 4lb 1.5oz bought newborn but he came 2 months early so had to get prem clothing couldn't find any for when he got home so used tiny baby and tied knots in legs to make a better fit. He finally fit newborn clothes at 6 months.

dc5 6lb 3ozs wore tiny baby clothes had learnt lesson at this point so had a range from tiny baby up to 0-3 months clothing.

dc6 6lb 4ozs same as above.

Now on dc7 but have been warned this one could be very small so buying from prem up to newborn. If baby is too big for prem or tiny baby stuff will donate it to the maternity unit so it won't go to waste.

I have been wondering the same! With DS1 I just bought loads of newborn size clothing (label said around 7lbs5oz I think?) and I was told he was a big baby and would be at least 9lbs! He was 7lbs14oz when he was born and even the newborn swamped him

I'm totally confused by the measurements on baby clothes now with im pregnant with no.2 as I've once again been told it's a big baby!

Born 3kg, dropped to 2.5kgs by 2 weeks - I only really had 0-3 so he lived mostly in vests (babygrows involved lots of screaming as his legs kept getting stuck down one leg).
By 2 months he was in 3-6 months. What ever size you choose don't buy too many!

6lb 14, wore small baby size for a few weeks and then grew into newborn.

5.13 but dropped to 4.13 due to my shit milk was in tiny baby fir some time

DC1 6lb 3oz, tiny baby for 2 months then newborn.

DC2 8lb 11oz and long, skipped a sack load of younger DC's clothes and straight into 0-3 months. As I had a small bump I thought I would have another small baby but no, and I only had one babygro in my bag which fitted.

Take a selection, DH can always bring more in of the right size. Hope all goes well.

6 pound 2, in small baby first

7 pound 9, new born first

7.5 - 0-3 month clothes as she was quite skinny with very long legs.

9.13 - 0-3 month clothes. She was 3 weeks earlier than her very overdue sister, so I'd only brought newborn clothes.

11lb 13oz - he fit in 3-6 for a few weeks ha ha. He was so bloody long, now he's youngest in his class but one of the tallest

0-3m should be perfect. And size 2 nappies but don't stick up

Mine were 11lbs straight into size 2 nappies and quickly into 3 iirc. 0-3m outgrown by 1m old and wore at least 1 size up til she started walking.

9lb 3 pretty much same as above. In 6-9m clothes since 9 weeks.

11.5. Bought new born baby grows in advance. They never went near. Bought 3month old,perfect.

9.6. Wasn't making same mistake twice so didn't buy anything. Used older siblings cast offs! 3month old baby grows fitted. Second baby was just as long but a bit thinner.

Thank you all so much for your replies. I will ask my midwife for an estimate but guess my best bet will be to take a selection of different sizes.
