even if we're not going out. Or do you leave them in their pj's?

Scootergirl · 19/02/2007 20:14

Mine get dressed every day but we normally have to go out by about 11am or I'd go nuts !

CountessDracula · 19/02/2007 20:15

I don't dress my dd at weekends until we are going out

Thanks everyone for your input. Jelley, Flame, MRM if you're reading, I'm not ODD (sticks out tongue).

As to dressing siblings the same, I just can't bring myself to do it to my 2 boys.....yet

Mine are at school, so weekdays we are dressed and out early. It's nice not to bother at other times.

(Still think you should try not dressing them occasionally Macca)

I have dressed the dds in matching outfits twice in the past 6 years. Looked cute, but they are very different children and when they chose their own clothes dd1 wears jogging bottoms or dungarees and t shirts. DD2 wears party dresses all day every day!

eidsvold · 20/02/2007 07:47

if we are not going out they are in play clothes for relaxing and playing at home. If out to do school run etc they are in appropriate clothes.

eidsvold · 20/02/2007 07:47

mine 2 dds have had the same outfits sent to them and the only time they have worn the same is with their pjs - at other times they have worn the same outfits but on different occasions.

pinkchampagne · 20/02/2007 07:49

I always dress my children, regardless of whether we're going out or not. Would never leave them in their pjs.

pinkchampagne · 20/02/2007 07:52

The only time they may stay in pjs, is if they're unwell.

FrannyandZooey · 20/02/2007 08:09

Mine stays in his pjs for hours sometimes if we are not going out. Has been known to be out in the garden at midday wearing coat, wellies and pjs

I would normally aim to get him dressed by about 9 or 9.30 but it doesn't always happen - does it matter?

colditz · 20/02/2007 08:11

if I know we are going out, they get dressed upstairs first thing.

If I know we're not, It could well be pyjamas all day - it is not unknown.

dd1's idea of an ideal weekend day is to stay in her pj's all day! (she is 9). However sometimes friends have come round for her in the afternoon and she has felt mightily embarrassed to be caught in her pj's . Ds is always first dressed in our house (he's 18m). I'm usually the last dressed as I wait until he has a nap before taking a shower.

handlemecarefully · 20/02/2007 09:06

For me personally I need them to get dressed because I think it's a bit sloppy for them to still be wearing pj's by mid morning or later. I appreciate that this is completely irrational and am not accusing others of being sloppy, but we all have our little foibles don't we! (and I have more than most)

IamBlossom · 20/02/2007 19:44

DS1 LOVES staying in his pjs. After his day nap he often asks to be out in them to watch some telly. Doesn't bother me, I think it's cute.

izzybiz · 21/02/2007 08:08

My Dd usually removes any clothes by midday anyway, she loves to be in the buff!

ghosty · 21/02/2007 08:10

My children get dressed every day, even if we are not going out. They are usually dressed by 8am, even on weekends and in the holidays.
I don't stay in my pjs all day so why would they?

ghosty · 21/02/2007 08:13

I once taught a little girl (aged about 7) who got changed for p.e one morning and as she got undressed she looked down and said, "Oh no! I forgot to take my pyjamas off this morning!" and sure enough under her school uniform was a nightie
Bless her, her mum was a bit scatty and she was too

LowFatMilkshake · 21/02/2007 08:18

I used to dress my DD everyday when she was a baby. Now she is 3 and I have a 10 week old, he stays in PJ's as it's easier. But she demands to get dressed - and if I dont oblige she goes and does it herself .

She has any eye for colour - she as put together some great outfits that I would never have done!

Bozza · 21/02/2007 08:20

Mine always get dressed at some point in the day. It has occasionally been after lunch for DS. But it is a rare day that we don't go out anywhere.

inmyopinion · 21/02/2007 11:52

yeh i always bath and dress my 6month dd even if we're just sitting in the house.i think i do it for her benefit really.to keep her in her routine so she knows where the day starts and then ends when she gets changed into her sleepsuit

We go out pretty much every day at least once and sometimes twice unless ds or I am ill. I want ds dressed because once he is I can get out of the house quicker.

We really never just spend all day in the flat (too small with no garden) so lounging around in pjs all day isn't really an option - (though in pre ds days I did this quite a lot

tortoiseSHELL · 21/02/2007 16:27

School days, or days where we really need to get out, getting dressed is the first thing to happen, pre-breakfast particularly. Holidays, they can stay in pjs longer. Ds2 (9 months) often stays in pjs all day - as today he has! Today ds1 and dd got dressed at about 10.
