Lumps on back of baby's head???

hi,

I have 9 wk old DS who has four small symetrical lumps on back of head just behind the ears and one further in. The Dr has suggested they are lymph nodes and not to worry but I can't help worrying! Should the lymph nodes be raised like this?? Any advice appreciated.

They are just glands, will sometimes become raised esp if dc is ill. Like the glands just under your tonsils in your neck get bigger when your poorly.
Normal
Freaky though isn't it.

my DS had a couple of these lumps when he was born and they went. Showed them to HV and GO and they said much the same as PP ... keep an eye on them and if you are worried at all speak to your GP.

My dd has these! I was thinking of saying about it to the GP - I really noticed them when she had the chicken pox. I didn 't realise lymph nodes could be on the back of the head!

I think there are several in dif places of the body, which is why if cancer gets to them, you're pretty much f**ked.
Don't really know what they do though.
Am curious now. Any one know for sure??

Don't think they go, they just aren't always swollen, so you suddenly notice them when they are poorly and they become swollen.

thanks everyone - I think i will make appt with GP and get referred to a paeditrician (not sure if spelt correctly!)just to make sure everything is ok as they are raised and yet baby is fine?? x

DD1 had these and it freaked me out! They were just raised lymph nodes and the doctor said nothing to worry about but gave her some prescription stuff for cradle cap as she had an extremely bad case and it may have been linked. Although the bumps went away and the shampoo did bugger all to sort out the cradle cap!
I was glad I went to the doctor though for my peace of mind as I noticed them on a Friday and spent all weekend panicking!

My ds and my dd both had these. HV and GP both said they were lymph nodes which are more noticeable in babies but will disappear when older. They also said that they may swell slightly when baby is little as he / she is encountering new substances to which immune system is reacting. Not necessarily just when ill.

Ds's ones are completely gone, dd is now 4 and some of hers are still noticeable.

I am not at all worried anymore (but was worlds worst panicker when I first found them on ds)
