What age did your child go to a concert for the first time?

Just wondering as my daughter is 5 tomorrow :-) she absolutely loves little mix and I've seen they are touring next November which will make her just over 6 years old. Do you think that's still too young for a proper concert? Tickets go on sale tomorrow and I know the venue we would go to will sell out in no time. Also it would be a Monday night and about an hour and a half maybe to get home. So I'm thinking she wouldn't be in bed til midnight with school the next day.

Part of me thinks so what about school, it's a new experience for her. But then the other part thinks I don't want to waste money if she won't be old enough.

Have you taken your child to a proper concert and they have enjoyed it at 6 years old? X

Take her. You'll both have a great time.
Mine have been going to festivals since they were babies and seen all kinds of bands and music. It's a great experience for them.

I am having this exact dilemma about the Little Mix tour. My eldest DD will be 9 by the time the concert takes place but my youngest will just have turned 7. Should I take both of them or just the oldest? There's no time for procrastinating at length either as the tickets go on sale in the morning and will have sold out within the hour.

I know, this is it isn't it, they are going to sell so fast. I think I'm just going to get the tickets as I'll regret it if I don't. If I think she's not ready or decides she no longer likes little mix - could happen as Tuesday she decided she loved raisins and yesterday decided she hated them again - I'll just sell them. Might even sell for more than I pay if they are really popular.

I wish they wouldn't bring these things out so far in advance, how are we supposed to know what bands our kids like in over a years time? She could be into linkin park by then, who knows lol x

And will they still be together by then....12 months feels like a long time in teen band world

I know, I keep hearing one of them is going to leave or something like that lol. I'm also abit concerned cos they seem to be dressing quite - well with hardly no clothes on at all lately lol. Did you see them on X factor? Not sure that's appropriate for a 6 year old either lol x

Just see the clothing as a "costume choice" for when they are putting on a show. They've been interviewed lots on TV this week and dress like normal teenage girls when they aren't performing.

Ah ok, I haven't seen them on anything else. And yeah that's a good point, just costumes. I think I'll just try get tickets tomorrow. My daughter has no idea about it anyway so if I can't get them she wouldn't know. Hope you manage to get tickets if you decide to go :-)

Just bought three tickets for Birmingham. They are doing a Saturday afternoon show here so perfect

Just been wondering about this. I went to my first concert at 8 and dd1 is 8 now. Not sure she'd know enough of their songs to not be bored though whereas I was already obsessed with my band of choice and so knew everything.

There were loads of younger children when i took my 14yo DD to see Ellie Goulding. The only problem was the support act (John Newman) swore in almost every sentence!

We took DD, then almost 8, to see Adele last year, tbh she was completely overwhelmed by the sheer size and noise in the arena (o2)...we thought she loved it, especially as we were literally feet away from Adele, but frankly she freaked out a bit and didn't really enjoy it all ...so it depends on the child and particularly how she copes with very loud music!

Btw, DD will swear now that she loved it, so she's rewriting her memory of it

I managed to get 3 tickets for Sheffield, I'm dragging my mum along too for extra support incase she doesn't like it. I'm sure my daughter will absolutely love going on a trip out with just me, her grandma and herself :-) she will be so excited about that - especially cos her brother isn't going lol.

Tickets were really hard for me to get this morning so if I feel she won't like it late down the line I'll be able to sell them no problem. Fingers crossed our kids will love it though

Yes not easy to get the tickets this morning. I am taking both DD's who will be 9 and 7 at the time of the concert. Solved the problem of birthday presents for both of them next year too, in my crusade not to buy any more "stuff"

Haha yes I know :-) it's actually my daughters birthday today so next year I'll give her the tickets and she will only have a week to wait :-) Really tickets for Leeds would of been better for us but that was on a Monday night, Sheffield is on a Saturday night so it makes sense to travel abit further so she can have Sunday to recover. I really hope your daughters enjoy it :-) xx

I'm sure she'll love it, but please ensure she wear proper ear defenders. Our DC have all been going to gigs since they were probably 4 or 5, and have loved them all. Only once was it too loud, and that was when we noticed DDs ear protection had slipped off her ear.
