Would you take DC swimming if they had remains of a cold?

DS is 16 months and has had the remains of a cold for three weeks now. Could we take him swimming? He loves it and has really missed it.

I would!

Freckle · 03/02/2007 08:24

No I wouldn't. If he has the remains of a cold, his immune system is compromised and just think of all the germs floating around in a humid leisure centre. Yuck.

hmmm... tough choice...anyone else?

yes for sure!

in this wetahr by the time you have 2 children one of seems to always have a cold, the start of a cold r the end of a cold IMO!

Is he snotty and sniffly? Then no. Because I wouldn't want to swim in someone else's snot and germs. So I wouldn't do it myself.

My children get colds a lot and we have to wait ages untill neither of them have one. We can't swim that much as a result.

I don't take them when they are very snotty and sneezy. For their sake and the other swimmers.

Its rare that they both have completely dry noses though.

Two of my boys (aged almost 13 and 11) have been swimming recently and come home sick. These are very healthy and robust children. If either of them had a lowered immune system, I wouldn't let them go.

SSShakeTheChi · 03/02/2007 10:44

I wouldn't do it

sorkycake · 03/02/2007 10:58

No

Tommy · 03/02/2007 11:05

I would if it was the end of a cold

Mine go unless they are really poorly - and have never suffered bcause of it. Just keep them warm. A 16 month old is likely to be exposed to as many (if not more!) germs chewing the same toys as others at playgroup and if you kept them away from all other kids when they have a sniffle they'd never go out! Go, and enjoy!
