in the last week or so.

About 1 1/2 weeks ago DH asked me if I'd moved his Tequila as it wasn't exactly where he'd left it - and he hadn't drunk any for a while. I assured him I hadn't and we assumed it had been knocked when putting jackets on the coat hook (our 'bar' is on a small table under the coat hooks in the kitchen/utility bit).

Then on Friday last week he looked again and quite a lot of teh Tequila had GONE. He questioned DS1 about it and he admitted he'd been drinking it. Apparently he "liked the taste" - we don't know whether he's drunk it after school (and therefore it would explain some of the groggyness when we get him up to use the toilet at 11pm) or whether it's been in the mornings when he often goes downstairs before we get up.

The "bar" has now been moved - but I'm very that DS1 drank it,

Well, I read your post FA, but am still chewing my tongue over what to say.....

Snort!

DHs cousin called an ambulance to her DS (aged 4 or so) because he was lethargic, had poor balance and was throwing up. The ambulance crew arrived and they discovered he'd been drinking the cooking sherry from the kitchen...

Blimey what a lesson to learn. Am very surprised he liked the taste. Not much you can do now except have a stern chat and put everything under lock and key

misdee · 30/01/2007 14:09

yeah you shouldnt have left it in his reach, BUT, he liked the taste? how can anyone like the taste

ah well, time for an early chat about alcohol.

My parents used to have lots of parties when we were young. I regularly made up 'cocktails' for my younger brother from the dregs left in the glasses the next morning...
...from the age of 2!
You're lucky that no harm came to ds1 - thank goodness you discovered what was happening.
And what a great story to embarrass him with at his 18th!

wotzsaname · 30/01/2007 14:18

at a friends bbq party a little boy age 3 ran up to grab his coke, very hot day, and he drank the whole lot. His mother walked by to pick up her rum&coke which she had just put down and her glass was empty! oh yes hed had the lot, he was OK but had a little doz later on.

I always put kids drinks into kids plastic type glasses at things like this now.

Im gald the bar has been moved.

I'm really surprised he liked it - most adults would probably gag at straight tequila - unless of course he added some fresh orange juice a dash of grenadine and perhaps some chopped mintbefore setting off for school!

fortyplus · 30/01/2007 14:46

I confessed to my parents when I was about 35 and they were horrified!

DimpledThighs · 30/01/2007 14:53

Well no harm came to him and you have moved the bar so would put it down to experience. am suer the school would have said if they noticed.

am he likes the taste - he's going to be one to watch!

Spidermama · 30/01/2007 14:56

You wouldn't think they'd go for neat tequila would you? Ys gods!
Imagine the mortification if he's gone to school steaming. You'd have the soash round in a flash.

fortyplus · 30/01/2007 15:14

At my sons' school it was the parent helpers who smelled of booze!

wasnt MY coke. gosh no.

SoupDragon · 30/01/2007 15:47

At least it wasn't a Fruit Shoot.

wotzsaname · 30/01/2007 15:49

now your asking for trouble

DimpledThighs · 30/01/2007 16:05

I count coke with ice and a slice as part of the five portions of fruit a veg a day - two if there is run as well, grapes are fruit.

DimpledThighs · 30/01/2007 16:05

'rum' not 'run' (never run)

Troutpout · 30/01/2007 16:07

Twiglett · 30/01/2007 16:09

um DimpledThighs .. I don't believe Rum is commonly made out of grapes is it?

DimpledThighs · 30/01/2007 16:29

I thought it was distilled wine or maybe not?!?

Yohoho, pirate thread here I come.

Twiglett · 30/01/2007 17:08

I thought rum was made out of sugar cane / beet .. no?
