I just run a wet wipe over DD in the morning, before getting her dressed. Like your DS, she is bathed every night and only does 1 or 2 small wees int he night.

hmm, was thinking this the other day about ds who is 3yrs 3 mths, I don't but i think i will start running a wipe over him in the am. while we're on the subject, have you kind of set a time limit on nappies at night? i must say , i feel in no hurry but the other day one of his chums' mummy looked at me as if i was mad when i said he was still wearing pull ups at night and it didn't bother me at all.

god i so agree. i left training until he was 2 yrs 9 mths, and it was easy, he was very ready. at moment, he drinks a really really healthy amount and no way am i going to curb that to get him to stay dry, also, as you say he's hardly going to be in them when he's a teenager is he? in the mornings his nappies are still 99.9% wet, so we're a long way off it being easy!
ps oi you're a new (ish) mummy again, how come you have the energy to mumsnet at this hour ?

ds is still in nappies, he's 5!
yes i give him a wipe over in the mornings, he does it himself at weekends but i like to be a bit more thorough before school.

Maybe my lot had extra-whiffy wee or I have an ultra-sensitive nose (which dh claims is the case!) but I always washed their botts in the morning, otherwise they had an 'old lady' wee-y smell around them. When dd was at nursery I could smell it on other littlies sometimes, too.

Totally agree with Twiglett about using nappies/pull ups until they are ready. A child who wets the bed several times a week isn't trained, imo.

I used to wipe DS down with a wipe b4 getting dressed ...

I rinse off my ds's bits in the shower most mornings, especially in the summer. I find that I can generally skip a day or two with no ill-effects, but occasionally he will get a bit rashy if he then gets sweaty during the day.
