Ok so ds is officially a fat little baby!

He's just grown out of his Motherease one-size and Poppolini one-size that i bought as he'd grown out of his Bambino Mios and dd is still using the larger size of those.

I'm at a loss what to do now... i'll have to take some of the rent money and buy more but what? Which are the most generously sized, heavy duty and cheap nappies out there? I'm thinking Bumbles but don't want to get it wrong again as the landlord is getting a wee bit pissy about the rent so can't afford to have to buy more.

I'm enjoying my bumbles pt, and a friend has her 2 year old in them, but ds2 is only 14 lbs 9oz (ds1 was that at 8 weeks!) so I'm not personally able to vouch for them on a larger behind!

I could perhaps spare a couple on loan to you to make sure before you buy if you like.

PinkTulips · 25/01/2007 11:30

I have a couple of Bumbles so that's why i'm leaning towards them... only thing is dd is barely any heavier than him and smaller round the thighs so i have no idea how they cope with a bigger baby. Good to hear your friends toddler is still in them, hopefully that means they'd last a fair while on him.

wambamboos fitted round my 3yr old's huge bum (she wasn't overly impressed about having to try em on )

Either www.geobel.co.uk.... or an email to me

mummyhill · 25/01/2007 11:43

Someone told me the they a size up from bumbles called bumpers would they be any good as he may grow out of the bumbles? I am going to try bumpers for DS who is 16 months and quite large. Otherwise there a couple of companies who do larger terry squares will look for the sites for you after changing a smell boy who has just toddled over with his mat and belted me with it. (does this mean he may be easy to toilet train?)

Flamesparrow · 25/01/2007 11:44

oh, i do suggest nappies I can't supply too - thats not meant to be a dodgy sales pitch...

Trinity!!! Come tell people i suggested you buy bumgenius!!!!

PinkTulips · 25/01/2007 11:49

i don't have your email flame... i'm dee_pinktulips @ hotmail . com ... really need some dvice before i waste yet more money!

on the plus side it's occured to me that i got the one-size nappies extremely cheaply secondhand so i might be able to sell them for a profit

mummyhill, had thought of bumpers but we have enough problems getting pants that fit so they might be a bit bulky. god i'm picky aren't i?!

have just been hunting the net and have seen packs of 10 diddy diapers for quite cheap. they look to have quite generous tabs... anyone tried them?

Hanlou007 · 25/01/2007 15:03

Diddys are one of my fav even though they take ages to dry (just seen on the label you can tumble dry hot)....

lunavix · 25/01/2007 21:29

PT - I have some left over from ds if you'd like to borrow them?

From memory I have two size 2 kissies, one or two size 2 tots, and a size 2 bumble? Plus two size 2 fleece tots wraps and maybe one or two size 2 airflows?

PinkTulips · 25/01/2007 23:41

luna, have replied on our Aug thread

Is it width or length? If length then the Bumper is massive (I am 5'1" and they would fit me) BUT you can fold them down, Bumbles are sim. to Tots Bots but have a higher rise and Toddle-ease are abit wider and higer than ME Sandy's so maybe your best bet.

A friend has a super sized child and went in to XL nappies at one point but she has now slimmed down abit and is back in large so don't get shot of you MEOS just in case (oddly the size change wasn't due to her walking either as she was an early walker).

If it is width, you can buy extender which are fabric strips with poppers on that enable you to extend sideways.

PinkTulips · 28/01/2007 00:13

asked the nappy lady for advice and this is her advice

'I note that your son is outgrowing your Motherease One Size (MEOS) nappies at 6 months old. We often find with bigger children that they stretch the MEOS to their limits at around 6 - 12 months and then as they get mobile their body shape goes in and up and the nappies begin to fit better again. It is possible to get a set of extenders for the nappies to make them wider as a temporary measure until they fit again and this might be the least expensive option for you currently.

However, as your son is very tall he is very likely to outgrow the nappies eventually in terms of length (if he hasn't already done so). If you are looking for an alternative nappy then the Bumble is a good one as it is a good nappy for tall children, however, we have known particularly tall babies (95th centile and above) outgrow this as well. I note you already have a couple of Bumbles so should have a good idea of how well they fit your son and how much longer they are likely to last him. If he is only around 75th centile for height then these could last through to toilet training, especially as the inside flap to fasten the pad into can be folded out to increase the rise of the nappy.

There is a larger version of the Bumble available, the Bumper. The other possibility would be the Motherease Toddlease nappy which is another size 3 nappy however both of these nappies will almost certainly be too big and bulky for your son currently and would probably be more suitable in another 6 months.'

he's 95th centile height and weight so looks like i'll be changing nappies a few times yet.....

PinkTulips · 28/01/2007 00:13

should add, extenders won't do any good as he is too tall for them too.

MrsWaggsnapps · 28/01/2007 09:44

I think they are wrong about the toddle-ease, if he's outgrown MEOS then they'll fit him, they aren't substantially different in size and have loads of poppers so are very adjustable.

You could also go bespoke, Suki at Clwt-twt and Ann on ebay make nappies and would probably make you some extra tall nappies

I think Anne's ebay ID is ann1361 and Suki is www.clwt-twt.co.uk
