Sun is the very best thing for getting poo stains out. It works wonders. As for getting them soft I am afraid that will involve a tumble dry IME. HTH

Ah yes, that is a slight fault in my plan for you.....and if we had the sun then you wouldn't need the tumble drier on.....
I'm not helping much after all am I

sunlight is the best at bleaching the stins away.

Try some vinegar in the final rinse (put a dash in your fabric conditioner draw). It really does soften the nappies!

Washing soda in the wash.....and sunlight. Even if it's raining or overcast, hang them out. It's the ultra violet that does it, I think.

Sunlight is the only thing for the stains, and I'll tell you what softens beautifully - RAIN! So get those nappies outside for 24 hours and then bring them in and dry them as per normal inside.

frost or snow is brilliant, frost softens as well as a tumble dryer (try it with towels too) and snow will whiten anything.

We have sun and wind today I've put the nappies on another wash with some vinegar in the drawer. Going to pop them on the line for a few hours then tumble them for a bit, see what happens.
