Have a Renault Scenic and need 3 seats in the back - any advice please!

I am not sure where is the best place to ask this question. I am currently 7 1/2 months pregnant with child number 3. We have a Renault scenic and would like to get all 3 children in the back. DD1 is 5 1/4 and in a booster seat. DD2 is almost 4 and currently in an isofix seat but we are thinking of moving her into a booster. Child number 3 will need a baby seat! We have front air bags.

Has anyone any advice and know of a seat that can easily fit in the middle - or am I going to be banging my head on a brick wall here!

Those with 3 children, do you go for the bigger 7 seater cars or put one in the front?

Thanks for all your help.

I have an old renault scenic[r reg] and have 3 car seats in the back.DS is 3 so in a highback booster, DD1 is 12mths so in a britax forward facing seat and DD2 is 2wks so in a rear facing car seat that has a set base. Only problem we have is it can be a little difficult to fasten DS seat belt so we have to do it rather than him doing it. Would just suggest going to mothercare or the like and trying all the options in the back.

I struggle with the rear seatbelts in my Renault Scenic as they are so low down between the seats and the seats are quite narrow (although it is great in that there are 3 3-point seatbelts not a lapbelt).

You will have to work by trial and error I think. Measure the bases of the other seats - mine tend to be a bit wider than seats hence the struggle for the kids to do their own seatbelts.

Put the booster seat in the middle - it worked for me! For a long time I had two ordinary car seats plus a booster in the back in a T-reg Scenic. With two in booster seats it should be very simple.

Put either the 2 fixed or 2 you need to release adjacent so you don't inadvertently release the fixed seat (less relevant if Isofix).

I borrowed a friends booster this afternoon. I could fit it in the car but couldn't then plug the seatbelts in!

hiya, we have a newish scenic and 3 girls. dd1 = 4, dd2 = 3 and dd3 = 6 months.

dd1 sits in the front with daddy in her booster, dd2 in the back in her maxi cosi xp, and dd3 in the middle in her car seat.

So i am relegated to the back. However, this does have its advantages, you can keep an eye on the baby, especially if you have a clingy one like mine. Who likes to be able to see mummy.

I find that the seats in the back of the scenic are quite comfy, so it doesnt really bother me. And dd1 loves riding shot gun with daddy.

i can get 3 car seats a booster cushion (britax horizon) a high backed booster (britax highliner) and a group 1 britax renaissance in the back of my clio,,, tho clicking the middle one is a bit of an effort

given that im sure it must be possible to get 3 in a big scenic!

Thank you all for your advice. I think a trip down to Halfords or Mothercare is what we need.

Angela.

we've managed a variety of 3 seats in the back of ours - at one point we had 2 Britax Eclipse and a Graco autobaby (was a bit of a squeeze!). We've now got two highback boosters at the ends and a forward facing seat in the middle...we just have to undo the seat belts for the bigger ones (or else they end up undoing the fixed seat and everything has to come out to be done up again.....)

We have just come back from a trip round Mothercare and after trying many a seat the Britax isofix cosy tot behind the driver for the baby and 2 Graco Junior highback boosters which give plenty of room to get your hand between the 2 and you can actually see what you are doing! I think this is what we will go with.

Thanks to you all for your help.

Angela.

Just thought I would update this in case it is useful to others!

We ended up with a Britax Cosytot isofix, Britax Hiliner Booster in the middle and then a Britax isofix on the outside - though this is about to be replaced as my DD2 has now outgrown this and will be a Maxi cosi Rodi xp highback booster.

Thank you to everyone for your help and advice.

I fit 3 car seats in the back of my renailt clio so im sure its possible.

saying that its a bit tricky to strap the 3rd one in!

I use a britax renaissance (side) highliner (side) horizon booster (in the middle and strapped in last)
