My friend who is not a MNer has had a bedwetting breakthrough and I told her that I would post it on Mumsnet as you lot would all be interested I am sure.
Here's the story ...
Friend's DD (6 in August) has never ever had a dry night. They have tried everything from star charts to denying her drinks past 4pm to no avail. She has always been a deep sleeper and by 5am her pullup has been so full that it has leaked through. My friend tried not letting her have a pull up but after a few nights of getting up at 2am to change the bedlinen she gave up.
It got to a point lst week when friend's DD went to a playmate's house for a sleep over and afterwards she asked her mummy why she wet the bed but her friend didn't. This led to a discussion and friend's DD asked her mummy to help her get dry at night. So my friend went and bought one of those alarms. Basically it is an alarm that fits to a sanitary pad type thing in the knickers and goes off at any sign of moisture. Her DD was keen to try it and was more concerned about the noise of the alarm frightening her.
So ... my friend kept waking up in the night and checking her daughter wondering why the alarm wasn't working ... until 5.30am when she woke to hear her DD going to the loo.
DRY FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!!!!!
I know every child is different but for my friend's DD it was a breakthrough and it might help some of you who are having probs with dry nights ...
Cheers xx

Hi Ghosty. Sounds like that's what I needed 30 odd years ago!! I was still wetting my bed until that age too. Wasn't because I'd had too much to drink, stressed, lazy etc etc but I simply dreamed too much. I'd feel the need to go but dream that I'd get up, walk down the hall, sit on the loo and then wake up with a start when I started to go. Still remember how upset and angry I was with myself for doing it. Bless her, she must be feel very grown up and chuffed with herself right about now

Just had a text from my friend ...
Last night the alarm went off once and her DD went to the loo and then this morning she was dry ...
My mate is 'rapt' as the kiwis say!

Kiwicath ... I remember doing that too - dreaming that I was going to the loo and waking up when it was too late ... I must have been about 6 or 7 but it couldn't have been too often because I don't remember it being an issue with me or my mum ...
