Has anyone sneaked an extra child into a Premier Inn family room?

Hi. I booked a family room for myself and my 3 children for a one night stay in London. We are on a really tight budget so I was very happy with the room I found for the price. Now my mum wants to come too, but the hotel is fully booked on our date and there are no other hotels with room available close by. I wondered if anyone had sneaked an extra person in, and if it was worth considering. The online booking stated we were 2 adults and 2 children, so now it would look as if my 5 year old is the extra. We have no problems about sharing a bed for one night, just unsure if there are strident checks...?

I used to work in travelodge and it didn't bother us. You are paying for the room not the number of guests.

We booked a family room recently and they didn't even bat an eyelid at the fact it was 2 adults and 3 children. Even though room said 2+2 it'll be a squeeze though

Yes always, but they are 8, 7 and 5 though. There are usually only 3 beds (double and two singles) so you'll just need to work out who will be happy to share!

Thank you all. I posted this same question on Tripadvisor and you would have thought I was a dangerous criminal. I know technically there should only be 4 people, but as my youngest is only 5, we can share a bed, it's only one night. Do I have to be very covert? It is a new hotel and I know you need a key card to operate the lifts and possibly enter the upper floors.

You can sign in electronically and it gives you 2 or 3 keys -

I'd check in with your kids in tow and have GM wait in the car. I always get two keycards so you can slip out to the car, hand GM the spare keycard and go back in as normal. This is probably unnecessary stealth and drama, but I'd do it just in case I came a cross a particularly strident check-in manager! I've done this before and I don't think they really care.

I have wondered this. I am thinking of doing trip to London with my 3 DC plus dp. Would nt want to have to book extra room.

You need to add a cot as an option, then it'll allow three dc. We've done this many times, they really don't mind.

Our youngest is 4 now and generally well only be at a premier inn after a loooong day out and he's always been happy to sleep in the travel cot provided. Iirc, the last one we stayed at in Kensington had a pull out bed under the single as well as the camp bed they put in there. 3 singles would be a squeeze but if it's just to sleep in its not a problem

We always add the cot so they are expecting another. She won't sleep in it (age 4) but I feel more "right" about - and she gets breakfast!

A 5yo can sleep in a normal travel cot if they are happy to. They are huge.

I've phoned the premier inn and they've confirmed it was fine to have two adults a 7,5 and 2 year old as long as we shared existing beds and didn't bring in extra travel cot.

I'd tell them. Think of the implications if there was a fire.

Technically you would likely be breaking their fire regs,. In practise you'd probability get away with it and the hotel staff would not notice/would turn a blind eye. Depends on what you're comfortable with I guess.

I asked this same question a year ago. Some people said we should get two rooms. We decided to risk it. Premier Inn didn't care!

My parents did this with me... When I was about 25.

"Oh, love, we didn't actually tell them there's be an extra adult so just hide here while we get the keys sorted, then sneak in. Or maybe you could put your hair in bunches and pretend to be 12?"

The staff didn't bat an eyelid.
