Aaagh! What happened to the tooth fairy last night?

The tooth fairy has never failed to turn up before, but did last night. What's a good way of explaining to a shocked 7 year old?

What happenend? Where was the tooth? I was told once that the tooth was too far under the pillow, which was too heavy for a little fairy to lift.

good one beansprout, maybe write a TINY note, fold it up and leave somewhere near the bed where he/she can find it, explaining the money is on the mantelpiece/bookcase/whatever

Top idea - good luck!

oh no - this happened to us too . I said, "you can't have looked properly" and sent her to tell Daddy while I dealt with the oversight. The money was between her two pillows not under both! phew

We've had to explain that sometimes the tooth fairy is very busy with lots of children losing teeth at the same time or... the tooth fairy was unwell or... the tooth fairy is working part time (it is christmas after all ).
As you can probably tell, the tooth fairy has missed our house a couple of times

SparklyXmasKat · 29/12/2006 09:10

happened to me too, told them that they hadn;t looked properably and gone in with a coin in my hand, and 'found' the coin on the floor, they must have knocked it on the floor

MamaG · 29/12/2006 09:10

hijack, sorry - Hi KBear! Hope you had a great Christmas

Kbear · 29/12/2006 09:17

Yoo hoo!

Thanks for the 'too far under the pillow' idea, Beansprout! We're giving it another go tonight, with the tooth on full view and not under the pillow at all!

With the bad winds we are having at the mo you could leave her a note tonight saying...........

Sorry. I did not come to get your tooth last night, but there were very bad winds lastnight when I was on my way and I could not get to you.

As you have waited for me to come tonight I am leaving you < a small bar of chocolate/or something> with your coin/s

Love Tooth Fairy

That should help with why she/he did not come last night

Sometimes our toothfairy, when particularly busy, leaves the money under the doormat

Yes we had tears one morning - very sad dd aged 6 yo couldn't understand why TF hadn't been. Quick thiking mummy told her the rain would have soaked her wings and she couldn't have flown very well but she would come tonight .
