Baby jogger city mini double for toddler and newborn?

Anyone had this buggy for a toddler and newborn? All the reviews I've found so far are from people who had twins. If yours weren't the same age, how did you get on with it? How old was the oldest when you gave it up?

We've got this for newborn and toddler.

It's great - for the newborn we just use a bugaboo cocoon/footmuff type thing and she's nice and snug. The separate sun covers means we can shield her when she's sleeping and leave the toddler hood down so he doesn't have a tantrum about it.

HOWEVER, although it is useful for long walks to the playground etc, like all double pushchairs it is bloody useless if you ever want to go into a restaurant or cafe. Also it JUST squeezes into our front door. You'll need a massive hallway.

It was a gift. Otherwise we could easily manage without it - I'd have stuck to our trusty bugaboo and buggy-board combination (when we're out and about we swap them so that baby goes in sling whenever the toddler has his afternoon nap in the pushchair).

Ok thanks. What's the age gap between yours? Were debating what to do - whether we can get away with a buggy board. But we do days out most weekends and DD naps in the buggy. Don't want family days out limited just because she can't nap. Equally, it's quite an expensive purchase just for naps!

Baby's not due for a few months yet so plenty of time to think/dither!

Oh - didn't really get on with our slung when DD was a baby so am nervous to rely on that.

21 month age gap.

First one hated the sling (apart from the very first stretchy wrap). We didn't use slings much.

But the second baby is great in our Ergo. I'd really recommend persevering with slings for the second baby as it makes everything so much easier! Couldn't survive without it - on the floor she becomes a total target for her brother!

I'm going to have a gap just short of 2yrs when DC is born in May. We still use a sling for DS now so my original plan was to stick with travel system I had for DS and swap them about as it suits with other kid either walking or in a sling or on a buggy board. However, I saw a bargain Phil and teds on a local selling site and changed my mind as I thought it would be nice to have the option of both in a buggy without the width of a side by side. I've never been a fan of baby underneath style doubles but I have played about with it and actually with the cocoon the baby is nice and snug and still able to see me and I am able to see them. I imagine I will still take out slings for both toddler and newborn and will encourage DS to walk as much as he can.
