when dd1 will be 1yr 4mths I'll have a month off and thought about potty training her (my bit for nature, she's currently in disposables)... we'll be with dh's family abroad and where he's from, they potty train early as the majority wear cloth nappies (and so kids learn not to go around wet by using the loo!). So I thought his family could help as well. I figure dd will be walking by then and have some words. so the question is - am i mad or is this a possibility? Anyone done anything similar or got any hints/tips?

You're mad

Seriously though - it sounds like too much hard work....and you ought to wait until your child is showing signs of being ready.

most children don't have full bladder control untill they are 18 months. I would worry you are asking off her more than she is capable of.

In my country children are potty trained from one year but, I'm not sure how really potty trained they are, I would say that it's more about the mother recognising the "signs" to rush her child to the potty rather than the child being fuly able to do it.

In any case, at that age they can't hold for long, so they may be out of nappies but then you will spend the day running to the toilet (and at that point you may realise what a blessing nappies were)
