My dh and I were both brought up in church going families...mine catholic..his methodist and we go to church (albeit sporadically.) Our ds is 3.5 and starting to be more aware of xmas. I have no idea how to introduce him to the nativity story. I feel a lot of the concepts within it are difficult to understand. I have considered telling him that christmas celebrates the birthday of a special baby who wanted us to be kind to everyone. Will he understand? How do other mumsnetters (and especially those of different religious beliefs) explain what christmas is?
