2 year old .. Persistently large lymph nodes left side of neck

Just wondering if anybody has any advice or similar stories. I'm really worried. My 2.5 year old has had three swollen lymph nodes on theft side of his neck since I can remember. One is baked bean sized and the other maybe 2cm long. He has these when he's well or poorly. He's rarely sick but still has th persistent lymph nodes. I've asked his doctor and she briefly checked said oh it's fine . But I feel worried . Is this normal? I'm pregnant after a stillbirth last year and am so anxious.

I had a similar concern recently, asked the GP and was told its normal. My DS had impetigo and his lymph nodes were raised after that. It has taken an age (months) for them to go down! Which is apparently very normal, but it worried me for a while.

My son has this too. I first noticed it three years ago when he was a baby, and I was sick with worry (am very anxious about all things health related, but that is another story). Had him at the doctor a couple of times and the advice was that it sometimes happens, but to keep an eye on his health in general and to bring him back if any lethargy, fevers etc. But he is very healthy overall and presumably after three years if it were anything sinister I would know about it by now. I still can't bear to feel them and hate it when he has a cold and they become visible if he turns his head - I feel physically sick if I accidentally touch it.

So, I understand your concerns, but it seems that this can often just be 'one of those things'.

I have had enlarged lymph nodes on the right side of my neck, underarms and groin since birth. I'm 31 now and has never been a problem. I understand how scary it is to find these things on a child though.

Have you considered cystic hygromas? Totally benign.

I am 36 and have had them all my life. Two operations. If you google the images look like they have to be massive, but mine arnt. Sometimes golf ball size. Tennis ball as a baby. Not remotely painful. You just have to watch for infection but that is obvious temp etc.

Ooo, my son has these! He has 3 on the left side of his neck which swell up periodically. He has just been for his second ultrsound and they say they are harmless. They ve suggested a course of antibiotics as they think he may have a non clinical infection. They swell up in the morning but go down by lunch time. Very weird!

Thanks guys . Just worried as sometimes when he turns his neck you can actually see them . Sick or not there always there

If he's otherwise well then it really doesn't seem like a problem to me. My DSs took ages and ages to go down properly. It is apparently not unusual. If in any doubt go back to the GP and ask.

How long did they take to go down x

You can see my son's little lump when he turns his head. It's very visible if he has a cold but even if he doesn't it's definitely there. Has been there for three years and counting.

They took many many months to go down, and as soon as he's under the weather now they pop up again and take a while to go down again.
