Best fastener on tots bots? general real nappy advice?

Hello All!
I am pregnant with our first and really interested in using real nappies. I have been following a few discussions on here and checked out a few pages and really like the look of the tots bots. I have also written to the nappy lady but not heard back yet.
Many people seem to recommend tots bots with a motherease wrap, why is that? The motherease wraps look quite a bit bulkier, are they? and can babies still wear clothes with poppers at the bottom or will they not fit? What?s wrong, or not as good about, the tots bots? wraps? Also wondering what you have found to be the difference between the different types of fastener offered? Bamboozles look like the best but are they good for day and night or would you use them mostly at night and cotton ones in the day?
Sorry for so many questions but am very confused by the conflicting information and don?t know where to start!
any other general info or advice you can offer would be great
Thanks, M

maveta, unfortunately it is a case of trial and error.

i used bambino mio for dd from 5 weeks (she was too little before that) i chose them merely on the basis that they were the only ones available in the shops near me and i didn't have a credit card for internet shopping but they suited us perfectly. i never had any problems and recommended them to everyone. dd is still in them at 21 months with no problems and they last her for 12/14 hours at night without really needing a booster.

then ds came along and they've been a disaster for him. he grew out of the first size in the space of a week, if they get the slightest bit wet they leak up his back, they simply do not work as night nappies and now at 3 months he's grown into the same size as his sister and i've had to buy a load of new nappies for him (luckily a very kind lady sold me tonnes of hers for dirt cheap but its still an expense i could have done without)

so like i said, what works for one child may not suit yours, you'll really have to try a few differant types to get a feel for them.

i'd recommend getting a few trial packs, using disposables to keep you going while the cottons are washed (use eco disposables if you really don't want to touch normal ones), and deciding which ones you prefer and ordering them after a few weeks. (you'll love the chance to cheer yourself up with some baby shopping post birth anyway trust me)

Hello all - I'm trying to convince my mate to give real nappies a go - one of her issues is what to do when you're out and about (or on holidays) - do you carry sodden nappies around with you or just use disposable nappies for these occasions?

Snowydays, I just bung the wet/dirty nappy in a nappy sack, tie it then put it in a water proof drawstring one then either keep it in the basket under the buggy or changing bag. They dont smell as they are doubly wrapped. I do use disp wipes when out though. Then just deal with them when you get home.

Although be careful if you occasionally use disp too as my DH threw one of my beloved WBBs away with an extra booster from another as it was wrapped up in a nappy sack and was vaguely near some rubbish I had asked him to put in the bin ! I was gutted!
