Baby girl- poo has gone 'in' how do I get it out???

I feel so stupid.

I've taken my 4 week old girls nappy off and poo has gone all over the front of her vagina. I can see it's gone in so I looked and there's quite a bit beyond the outside bits.

How do I properly clean this without risking pushing it up?? I've cleaned what I can and given her a good soak in a warm bath and there's still some traces.

The last thing I want her to get is a UTI. How on earth do I clean her?

I think they're self-cleaning but not sure with such a young baby (you'd never think I was a nurse ).
Another bath I'd say, and clean from back to front rather than front to back or rubbing.

Don't panic, vaginas are self cleaning and it'll work it's own way out! You've done all you can with a good soak etc.

You're not the first person to do it and you're not the last- it's a steep learning curve!

Do you think if I kept her covered in sudocream it would prevent that from happening in future??

No don't cover her in sudocrem - just leave it, don't worry about it.

I wouldn't worry about it. It happens all the time. Utis are caused by it entering the uthethra rather than the vagina.
Wipe from front to back, separate everything and clean in the creases but don't worry about it.
I definitely wouldn't cover her in sudocreme. Personally I think it's awful stuff anyway but mixed with poo it's even worse! You'll just end up with sudocreme plus poo up there which could potentially be more of an irritant.

I'm sure it will just come out, especially when she pees. Maybe just check it's not getting smelly over the next few days and if she gets a high temperature it could be a UTI. You can't really do any more than you have done, you can't start poking about so a good swish in the bath is all you can do.

Another bath and a swoosh with a clean flannel but other than that leave alone.

This happens to my baby 90% of the time she poos, she's explosive :). Don't push baby wipes in, just wipe all over without too much pressure, then a cotton but with a few squeezes of water and another wipe.

She's 5 months old now and never had an infection :)

Not much to add that hasn't already been said, but I just wanted to say please don't feel guilty about it. My little girl poos upwards for some reason, you open her nappy and her bum and back of nappy is completely clean but its always travelled up to her vagina (and sometimes even bellybutton...) Its nothing to do with how I change her, she just likes to poo when she's sat upright. As long as you keep her clean and check there isnt any poo hiding in the nooks and crannys she'll be fine.

Sudocrem is v "unhygienic" in that it collects in the vulva area and kind of dries. Its all sticky so poo etc slings. Then you have to wash it off and it's clearly uncomfortable.
I just keep a bowl of water by the changing area and give a gentle wash whenever she poos.
