I'm having a huge panic as 17 week old DD has just vomited breastmilk streaked with blood after her breakfast. I've looked in her mouth as best as I can and can't see any cuts and I've expressed milk off which doesn't seem to contain blood. Do we need to go to A&E?

We had this and raced off to hospital. Turned out to be my blood from my nipples was first time breast feeding could it be this?

Yes take her to A&E now.

DS did this when he was tiny and we rushed him to A&E. It turned out to be blood from my cracked nipples... Is this possible?

If you can't see blood in her mouth, on your nipples on in her milk, she may be bleeding internally. You must go to A&E as this is potentially serious.

Bright red blood or darker brown?

Any other symptoms in baby? Crying? In pain? Restless?

SallyMischievo · 11/04/2015 07:48

We are going now, thank you. No blood on nipples.

DD did this when I had mastitis. No blood was visible on my nipples at all. Try not to worry and hopefully they can reassure you at the hospital!

Hope everything is ok, how frightening x

KERALA1 · 11/04/2015 08:47

Yes have you I wasn't aware I was bleeding either. Bet it is that. Hope it is but needs checking obv

Many thanks all, blood seems to have been from me although none visible on my nipples, feeding has been a little painful lately. Phew! Winding down with a bacon sandwich and the lion's share of an Easter egg Smile
