Hiya,
Im not a CM, but as a parent i would say:
Dont rush what you need to say
Explain clearly
Allow the parents to talk to you

smile and use open body language

listen carefully

actively acknowledge parents points and opinions

honesty at all times

follow up in writing where appropriate

do not discuss other parents/children unless in very general terms
