Can anyone recommend any dutch childrens books? Im looking for pop up/hardback books for a 1 year old but also to start building a collection of classic childrens books for her to grow into. In english we have dear zoo, the tiger that came to tea, each peach ear plum and the hungy caterpillar for example but id rather not just buy dutch translations. DH is the dutch speaker but doesnt seem to remember any.

Books based on the following characters:

Dikkie Dik
Jip and Janneke
Nijntje
Kikker

Most Dutch kids are brought up on these; lots of merchandise is available too.

Books bij Marianne Busser and RN Schroder have always been very popular with our DDs. (All on rhyme, lovely to read as well)

aw, Jip en Janneke.....:)

There's also De Olijke Tweeling and I think Minoes was a book too? Loved Minoes....

Charlotte Dematons has done some beautiful books. Some gorgeous ones without words too.

I've got to get my daughters into Dutch books and generally teaching them Dutch. It's difficult as I've lived in the UK so long and my wife doesn't speak any Dutch.
