How are those January 2004 babies?

Hi
Was just wondering how everybody was getting on. There were quite a few on the 'anyone due Jan 2004' thread but it looks like we're all still trying to catch up!
My dd was born on 29th and is absolutely gorgeous but any advice from people in a similar position would be much appreciated! How long and often do your babies feed? How well do they sleep at night? How tired on a scale of 1 to 10 are you? The list of questions goes on and on but these will do for now!

Ghosty, take care and hope your dd is getting better now. /think of it as she's ill now because she's having her share for thr next few years in one dose. Give her lots of cuddles- it'll make both of you feel better

Ghosty,

so sorry to hear about your dd. What an awful time for both of you. I hope that she's on the mend now, poor little thing.

stellarmum · 11/04/2004 19:05

Hi Hayls, my dd is the same age as yours, born on the 29th! She feeds about every 2.5 hours in the day, but at the moment we are lucky in that she goes to bed around half six and will sleep till about seven with a quick feed around 4am. So I'm not too tired!
She is suffering from reflux which is unpleasant for her, but is still putting on weight well (she's just over 15lbs!).
Unlike dd1 who was the most laid back baby in the world, dd2 is very loud and let's us all know exactly how she feels all the time!
And ghosty... what a nightmare for you all x

Ha that will teach me to show off! She was up for a feed 3 times last night!

Ghosty · 12/04/2004 08:20

Stellarmum ... probably a growth spurt ...
I always touch wood when I say that DD sleeps well and never cries because I know that that will be the day that she cries all day and doesn't sleep!!
Thanks for the kind words Stellarmum, Hayls and Tabitha ...
DD is well on the mend now thank goodness (touch wood )... today is the first day in a whole week that she has fed really well at every feed and has also sneaked in a few extra feeds today too ... she must be making up!
Can't believe that she is 10 weeks old tomorrow ... where has all that time gone?
Before we know it we'll be discussing solids!!

hovely · 02/07/2004 01:06

can I bring this back for an update and climb on board the jan 04 bus?
quick summary here - ds is smiley and mellow, grabbing at everything, banging on the table with a spoon. he wriggles a lot but doesn't roll, can't sit, but he babbles and roars and sings away. Still bf all day, 1 formula feed at night, no solids yet, waking lots at night (yes, maybe some connection). tiredness 8/10 and bad temper/grumpiness 9/10 .
However i feel that at last i am starting to enjoy ds's babyhood, it has taken a while, going from 1 child to 2 was harder than I had ever imagined.
What's the news of other jan 04 babes?

wellsie · 02/07/2004 16:57

Hello, I've been on the Feb04 thread as I couldn't find the Jan04 one. But now its here I will contribute to this one!
DS was born on New Years Day so he might be the oldest one here.
Like you Hovely I have only just started to enjoy DS. Having a baby has been a real shock to my system and I've only got the one!
He is moving around a lot and twice on Friday night he woke himself (and us) up with a bang as he'd rolled himself into the side of the cot - What do you do about that?
I've recently introduced solids and he definately prefers the sweet stuff.
Have tried once to get him drink from a beaker and failed, will try again soon.
He won't drink water or juice so needless to say we are having a few problems in the nappy area - Again, what do you do?
Anyway, that's all for now. Any other New Years Day babies out there?
Wellsie
x

Whats happening now its august?

Just started contributing so missed this thread last time round
Ds born 8.1.04 now crawling (well like a slug-not on her knees yet) Sits but topples over still eating well but started waking up in night since 5 months don't know whether change of weather/heat or whether the wriggles have disturbed her.

Henrietta · 17/08/2004 16:15

Sorry that should have been Dd still getting used to this

hovely · 17/08/2004 22:46

Like your ds henrietta, ds is sitting but toppling over.
he is also bouncing when held or sitting, it's as though he is riding a horse, I think he likes seeing the world going up and down.
he babbles and sings away all day, such a sweet natured little boy.
if only he would sleep better...
have now started mashing instead of purees, so far so good.

Ghosty · 17/08/2004 23:17

Hi ... been wondering about you all ...
DD is 6.5 months now (her birthday was 3rd Feb but I stuck with this thread for some reason!)
She is just a delight ... sits up really well and only sometimes topples over (didn't catch her yesterday ), loves reaching for things and will play for ages with silly things like her brother's placemat rather than the interesting baby toys she has! No sign of rolling but I am not worried about that as DS was the same, didn't roll until he crawled at 10 months.
She loves DS with a passion and squeals with delight when she sees him or hears his voice. But of course her favourite person in the world is her mummy and I love it ...
Still breastfed ... 3 times a day. Has 3 solid meals a day ... started meat two weeks ago and she loves it. Loves gumming pieces of toast to death ...
She is gigantic ... it is a bit embarrassing really - DS was the same but for some reason it didn't feel so bad with a boy ... but the comments about her size and rolls of baby fat are beginning to grate a bit ... I have been tempted this week to say to one mother "Well, your baby looks like a skinny rat!" After she went on and on about DD being so big and fat and was she storing her food in her cheeks for later and "Is she on Steak and Chips then?" ... Bloody rude woman
My baby may be off the charts but she is still my little baby!
Sleep ... hmmmmm ... well, she goes through in that I don't feed her but she wakes a couple of times due to cold (winter in NZ) and in need of the dummy .... so to be honest we are actually no better off than if she needed nighttime feeds . But she has such a lovely nature and sleeps well during the day and rarely cries that I forgive her ...
How are others??

Hayls · 19/08/2004 10:01

Hi all. My dd is just fantastic, I love her sooo much. She's got one tooth and another almost through and her favourite pastime at the moment seems to be biting me...when I'm feeding her! She still wakes a couple of times a night but doesn't stay awake for long so we're coping, just. She's sitting up with the occasional topple and absolutely loves her food, especially sweet potato for some reason. She's really happy all the time and sits babbling and playing all the time- like Ghosty's dd she likes playing with things like the remote control, telephone and anything else she's not supposed to have!

Ghosty, I get the same comments and it does bug me. It normally goes 'how old is she' and I reply and then 'oh, she's big isn't she'. I feel like saying sorry you're right she's actually a year and a half just to see their reaction. TBH she's not that big (was just over 18lbs 2 weeks ago) but she's very tall.
Hope you're all ok

DS is fast approaching 8mths (born 1/1/04) He is a little monkey, very independent and not at all cuddely
He is crawling VERY fast now and is trying to pull himself up on all the furniture.
He has discovered our dog and takes great delight in trying to pull her tail, fortunately our dog is very good.
Only this week have I managed to get him to eat breakfast (weetabix) and he seems to tolerate it, however he now seems to be sleeping for longer in the morning which makes for a shorter nap at lunchtime.
He is still sleeping through the night but we have no teeth yet so this might change.
Anyway, thats all from us.

jiggy · 06/11/2004 14:08

Just spotted this thread - my DS was born 24 Jan - would love to hear how you're all doing!

pixiefish · 06/11/2004 14:17

She's gorgeous and has completely changed our lives
