My 8yo DS has just come and asked me if we can eat dinner at the dining table "as a special treat". It used to be "can we eat in front of the TV as a special treat"!! Anyone else let their standards slip during the holidays?

I think I might have to shut the door to the kitchen though .. unless I get an hour warning

Not sure that my standrads could actually slip any lower

Twig, I'd like to borrow, steal or rent you by the hour next time my Mum is coming over please.

Though closing kitchen door might not work, as thats always the first place she goes (in order to start tidying, hopeless case that she is).

Rustybear, it is the mother's obligation to eat the last of any cake, whether she wants to or not, in order to prevent arguments. Hard life, isn't it?
We just have wall-to-wall chaos and the soles of our feet are turning grey (not through lack of bathing, I hasten to add, just because there isn't room to manoeuvre the hoover....)
