My son was born with dark brown hair, but in photos it would come out looking red or orange and now he is five months, and in photos his hair looks blondish. He lost a lot of his dark hair, but majority looks darky brown (what's left of newborn dark hair). In the sunlight he has a lot of tiny hairs coming through that look blonde. Or are they blonde bc they still tiny hairs? He has blue eyes. Father is blonde and blue eyes. I'm dark hair and eyes, daughter has darker eyes then me and dark hair. So kids are completely different colouring. I'm curious if his hair will end up being blonde.

When did your child's hair turn blonde? I know a lot are born w drk hair that falls out and grows back blonde. But when did you know what hair colour ur child's hair would be?

Sounds like my DS; on photographs his dark hair started to look gingery and then when he got to about 6 months he was completely blond. His hair was very thick and jet black when he was born but his eyes always stayed really light. At 16 months he's bright blond with light blue eyes, DH and I are dark haired with dark eyes :).

Dd1 was born with mousy brown hair which after a few months had turned blonde definitely by 5-6 months, she stayed very blonde when little but as she's got older her hair has darkened to a dark blonde.

Dd2 was born with slightly darker hair than dd1. I did wonder if she would ever go blonde but she did, again around 4-6 months and when she was little her hair was very blonde but like her sister her hair has turned dark blonde.

Dh and I were both the same as children, we are both dark blonde now, although mine seems to have more grey than anything nowadays. I have a Swedish ancestor who we attribute the blonde hair to, not sure about dh's as his side are all Irish and Scottish.

Thanks for all the responses :-) I have a feeling my little one will turn blonde. More and more when I see him in light I notice the blonde hairs. Genetics is so funny. I never thought I wold have a blue eyed blonde hair baby! I have dark hair and eyes and my first born looks just like me. Although, my husband is fair w blue eyes and blonde (as is everyone else in his family!). I just assumed my side would always be stronger then his side lol...bc brown is dominant. So interesting. Loe that we have one kids that looks lke mama and one like papa. Maybe the third will be a mixture of us :-)
