DS pulled up a chair to reach the kettle

At 21 months and playing really nicely, so thought I'd chance nipping to the loo on my own.
Somehow, he'd managed to drag a chair, climb up to the work surface and switch the kettle on. Ds1 ran upstairs to get me and I raced downstairs in time to see him lifting the boiling kettle into the air. It was filled to the 2 cups level.

Everyone was OK, but it just shows how easily these things happen. DS1 never was a climber, so I'm having to learn from scratch with DS2.
(DS1 was praised big time for saving his brother and has walked around with a pleased grin ever since.)

Bloss and Suew, how awful for you. I think scalding is one of my worst nightmares and DH's cavalier attitude doesn't help. I'm going to try the stairgate, but looks like I'll be staying in tonight now as DS2 is so ill and my tummy is squiffy.

I'm glad it happened really, as I think it was a wake-up call.

Suedonim, that's incredible! Sometimes you'd think they were on a suicide mission. There used to be a dishy doctor on Breakfast TV (not Hilary) whose pre-school children managed to end up in casualty twice. Once after raiding his doctors bag and eating pills, and again after falling out of lounge window and breaking limbs.
I thought that was pretty incredible at the time, but with ds2, I can believe it.

Zebra - We also have a gas cooker & DS kept on turning the oven on. We pulled the knobs off and kept them in a drawer close by, sticking them back on whenever we wanted to actually use the oven.

My little brother used to climb up the side of the aquarium and try and speer the fish with pickle forks - he is still a little bugger now at 17!!

He rang the fiorebrigade on more than one occassion and jumped off my other brothers climbing frame the first day he got it and split his head open!! They never learn!!
