Why FIS?
I'm on strike-dh home after 7 weeks away and in charge of all domestic issues.
Has taken the children shopping.

hulababy · 24/07/2006 10:48

Not holidays for us. DD starts school in Sptember, but is still at day nursery 2 days a week. Today and Fridays are my days off, and over Easter I have a a couple of days off a week, every other week too.

Today we have a friend and her DS coming round. Paddling pool is filled up, the toys are out and some salad stuff in the fridge. Friend's DS is bring his bike so the children can cycle up top our park later too. Weather is fab!

foxinsocks · 24/07/2006 10:49

they don't break up till tomorrow

foxinsocks · 24/07/2006 10:55

ooh moondog how fantastic - is he likely to come back with a trolley full of stuff you don't need??!

figleaf - when do yours go back - I have a feeling we go back a few days later in September so we end up having the same amount of holidays

moondog · 24/07/2006 10:56

FIS,God no!!!

He made a list, went trough cupboards to see what we need, menu planned and so on...

Very organised bloke. That's why I married him!

figleaf · 24/07/2006 10:57

We go back on the 5th September. I`ve just checked the school dates thing and today is an INSET day.

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 24/07/2006 10:59

aahh I see - I've just checked ours and our inset days are tagged on the beginning of next term so we go back on the 6th.

moondog, I'm impressed - no such male organisation in this house!

figleaf · 24/07/2006 11:06

Perhaps I`l have to ask the same question on Wed.

lol - at least you have peace in your household figleaf! I'm hoping this weather continues for a bit (well maybe not as hot as it has been) so the kids get to enjoy it rather than being stuck in a boiling classroom.

cleaninglady · 24/07/2006 12:04

my dd finished pre school on friday so today the first day of a long and arduous 6 weeks - she starts reception on 6th september - so have dd and ds (nearly 2) all day every day - aarrrgghhh -
just to be slightly sad have already been to shops this morning and bought dd's school uniform

Gobbledigook · 24/07/2006 12:09

Ds1 has another week of school so just a normal week! Got sports day this afternoon though so dh off work and family outing to school - should be fun!

LittleMerlin · 24/07/2006 12:19

Pottering around house this morning - enjoying not to go through the usual stress of getting DS1 off to school! DS1 and DS2 both got friends coming to play after lunch, so paddling pool and toys aplenty in the garden and hopefully I may get time to put my feet up just for second - although DS2 has just started walking so maybe not!!!! Gorgeous sunshine though so musn't complain!

Earlybird · 24/07/2006 12:40

We're in America at the moment, so just getting started this morning. DD will spend the morning at a sports camp for little ones - lots of games, gymnastics, swimming. And I must pack her a snack to take along - feels just like doing packed lunches for school!

One thing I've noticed is that the American kids I've seen are very immature compared to dd and her contemporaries. But otoh, they are much more athletic/coordinated - maybe it's simply a more physical life here for a child?

USAUKMum · 24/07/2006 13:46

DD (5) finished school Friday, we go back the Sept 4th. We've been very together so far today ....DS (2, thurs!!)up at 6am, DD up at 6:15. So we have done:

  • waved bye bye to daddy, with mommy yelling "don't forget to come home early"
  • did the vaccuuming
  • watched ToddWorld (DD loves this!), then Baby Enstien Numbers
  • fed next doors 2 rabbits and chincilla
  • got ready for swimming with DD best friend
  • went swimming
  • had lunch
  • did some paintin

DS now having nap and DD watching Tikkabilla.

If all still going okay, will go to library and sign up for the Reading Mission this summer.

Of course this will be the only day we're ever this accomplished again I am sure. Tomorrow a day at the seaside with friends !

anniebear · 24/07/2006 21:41

Today I have counted how many days it is till they go back to school!!!!!!!!!!!!

KBear · 24/07/2006 21:46

DD breaks up tomorrow. I spent the morning buying teacher presents and this afternoon watching their Year 2 leavers show . She's going to the Juniors in Sept which is a separate school and they sang a leaving, growing up, off we go to Juniors song and there wasn't a dry eye in the house!

Cannot WAIT until Wednesday!
