Potty training: can hold wees in but can't anticipate

Ds 2.8 has been potty training for a month, its going pretty well but never says he wants a pee. If I take him to the potty or loo he will pee. If I dont he wets himself. How do I get him to know the signs.

Bearford you are not alone.

DS also 2.8 and also been potty training for a month. Was a difficult start, then after 2 weeks thought we had cracked it, then started to regress...

I'm not sure whats going on as he knows what to do. He was dry and clean all last week and then since Monday he has gone off to summer camp and when I collect him he is in the spare clothes. When he comes home he then spends the entire afternoon (in or out and about) weeing in his pants....

I am getting desperate at this stage. If I ask him if he needs to use the potty he ignores me and on the occasion that he says no, he then seconds later wets himself.

I don't think you get them to know the signs, I think its just something that they can only learn themselves.

Keep me posted of how things are going.

We seemed to have a bit of a break through. We spent the day at legoland which was pretty exciting (for all of us) so I took loads of spare clothes. ds asked to go twice. Hurray! Temptation is to nag a bit so I am trying to back off.

He got tired in afternoon and wee'd on dh At least it wasnt me for once
