13 mo DD has nappy rash. Does not seem to be troubling her yet but would like to sort it. Which cream should I send DH to get at the supermarket tonight??

my DS is red everyday - to varying degrees

PrincessWatermelon · 02/07/2013 22:05

As a slight thread hijack, my LO gets. red bum of I don't use cream. But if I use sudocreme every change, it's fine. But what of this 'no redness no cream' idea? Ta.

XBenedict · 02/07/2013 22:07

Kafri - I used reusable wipes with DD2 and she never got any rash whereas DD1 and DS did get nappy rash from time to time. I'm sure the reusable wipes made a difference.

We found putting metanium on dd healed really quicker but didn't prevent further rash in different areas so went for both, putting on metanium to heal and then bepanthem on top as a barrier cream, tried sudocreme and supermarkets own but think bepanthem was best.
Hope your dc has a beautiful bottom soon! Grin

XB we're on cheeky wipes here! I just don't put the oil in the water when he's been red - DS doesn't tend to get nappy rash - has had it twice since he was born 6m ago. The first time was at birth as he had diarrhoea from antibiotics and the second was a week ago following a bout of diarrhoea again. Guess he's one of the lucky ones as it looked awful :-(

XBenedict · 02/07/2013 22:53

That's what I used cheeky wipes, still use them now for hands and face Wink

Kafri · 02/07/2013 23:15

That's why I took the plunge with the wipes. Though is save cash on wipes but also get plenty of use even when he's out of nappies as can use them for hands and face.
I'm really impressed with how well they clean him up. DH was costing us the earth in wipes with how many he would use for a dirty bum and even he can do it with just one CW. Grin

Metanium. Brilliant stuff

inadreamworld · 02/07/2013 23:19

METANIUM!!!

oohdaddypig · 02/07/2013 23:20

Depends on cause of rash IMHO.

Dd was allergic to pampers - there are chemicals in the newborn nappies. None of the creams worked. Just a thought in case you recently switched....

I think sudocreme is wonderful and that's with a DD with very sensitive skin. Don't rate bepanthem

PreciousPuddleduck · 04/07/2013 14:31

Thank you folks. Metanium seems to be doing the trick!!

Metanium Smile

I wish this was a naming thread. Bepanthen is quite cute but Metanium a tad pretentious, would you say?

mrsyattering · 04/07/2013 14:40

A vote for Bepanthen here, dd had pooing issues as a baby and had a sore bum a lot, we tried everything including metanium....Bepanthen was the only cream that worked for her
