Going to take DD swimming soon - any tips? I heard about how tricky it is to get changed/dry etc. so any advice gratefully received :)

Hi I'm a swiming teacher on maternity! Can't wait to take dd for her first splash about.
We advise after 4 months when all injections have been done and for about 20 mins at a time as babys can't regulate body temp as well as us.

Also I would never do submertion as some babys get extremely distressed as they become aware. That famous under water picture has a lot to answer fo! Also the reflex that closes the back of the throat of is involantary so baby dosnt start breathing immidiatly all the time so can be quiet frightening. Infact I hate it when I see mothers dunking there shocked babys. Also it can teach them a crawling action under water which can be harder to rectify when learning to swim properly.
Enjoy the water, nice warm pool, feed for after wards and take a few toys, enjoy! Wonderful that ur taking dc to pool x
