Cartoon porn on youtube

Hi mums. I came here because my friend found her daughter watching some disturbing things on youtube called yaoi. These are japanese cartoons depicting explicit sex between men and sometimes young boys. My friends daughter is 11 and much too young to be exposed to these things. I was wondering if anyone else has had any thoughts or experiences on this subject.

I don't want to post any links to any of these videos as they are very graphic.

Yours
-Deb

My thoughts are keep a closer eye and ensure children using the Internet have strict parental controls on devises and if things get through that they are very clear on what is and is not permitted and bring anything inappropriate to parents attention or they lose access. Parents must report these things to the hosts such as you tube and ensure they have frank discussions with their children.

However it is very unpleasant and disturbing to think 11 year olds can access these things on line but I feel parents must be responsible for what children can access and for reporting.

Absolutely I agree. But usually there is an age restriction on videos which are adult themed. Not so in this case. Youtube is a site one would like to think of as relatively safe for an 11 year old to use. My friend has banned unmonitored use of the internet and has reported these videos (as have I) but they have not been taken down. It seems that because these are cartoons, youtube doesn't take them seriously.

That is pretty poor of you tube. Sounds like your friend has taken the appropriate steps though.

It is. And yes, I believe she has. I just want other parents to be vigilant and look out for these yaoi videos as they seem innocent enough until the pornographic scenes

I would hardly call YouTube safe.

YouTube is definitely not safe for unsupervised viewing.
