I've really noticed this with DS (2yr) you can actually see him stop and focus on what I'm saying. (have to say that I frequently forget how well it works)

darn it - I lost my voice last week (well nearly) and all that happened was that I wore out the last vestiges of it trying to holler at the DSs (and DH)

What a fantastic idea. I am definitely going to try this with my brood (dd is 11 and fast becoming a stroppy teenager - ds is 13 - need I say more) and dh. I shall let you know if it has the desired effect. I hope it does.
