How much time do you get for yourself?

...and what do you do with it?

Just a quick informal poll!

I'm feeling a bit bluesy and my doc suggested it is partly because I don't get much time for myself.

I run a business with my DP and have three young kids, but try and fit in the occasional, but very rushed 'me time' appointment, such as a manicure :-)

I don't have regular 'me time' slots or have time for regular exercise, but wondering if anyone else really does????

Just want to compare what other busy mums have and do!

Yours very interestedly,

10 minutes in the shower every night, if nobody is banging on the door, 'mum what you doing'

Me time?

I try to get up at 6am so I spent around 30 or 40 minutes checking my email and playing my games while BF Dd while she sleeps. Then if I'm lucky I have time for a shower before dh gets up at 7am.

If Dd naps in the afternoon I can get an hour or two in the afternoon before picking up DS from pre-school. I usually tidy up then but sometimes if I'm tired I watch TV and relax.

Ds goes to sleep at 8am but Dd is a night owl so goes around 10 or 11pm by which time I'm tired so I go to bed too. Sometimes I stay up late if I have stuff to do but I'm always tired the next day so don't do it often.

Weekends sometimes get some me time in the morning as I wake up to feed the cat but the kids often sleep in until 8am but usually no down time at all.

Obviously Ds goes to bed at 8pm not am

OMG morescribbles five kids?! Plus your job and other work?!
You sound as though you're doing an amazing job!
I have the same kind of routine with DP, as we work together one of us often stays late, so same, we catch up and then I find it's 1am.

I'm going to look into lumie lights too, with that and the SJW I'll be set:-)

Reading these I also think I get quite a lot of time socializing (2 x nights out a month with various groups + usually 1 night out a month with a mate + possibly a lunch during work time).

I think the socializing is sorted, I'm craving 'alone time', but actually feel as though I'm doing alright and have a new appreciation for what I have, so I hope liveoutloud you get some!

reading this is making me chuckle to myself - I was very tempted to give a whack to a colleague complaining in the lunch queue the other day that his Mrs expected his commute to be his downtime. I view my commute very differently these days than pre DC and yep, it definitely is down time/me time!

I get quite a lot when I actually think about it. Dd1 is at school full time and Dd2 is at (school attached) nursery for the second half of the week. So I get Weds afternoon and all day Thurs & Fri (school hours obviously) to myself. I go to the gym/swimming and I study. I also go to a sewing class every Monday (term-times and over 6 week summer holiday) and a quilting class one Sat a month. On top of that I teach (volunteer) some craft classes but that's ad-hoc (maybe a day every couple of months)

Not enough! 2 and half hours on a Monday morning during term-time when DS is at pre-school nursery (that's the time I go food shopping). No other time during the day - I do have after 8.30 when DCs are in bed and I do the housework, dishes, prepare meals for next day, get bags ready - usually 9.30pm by the time I sit down for half an hour before going to bed. DH works often at weekends or in the evenings so I can't commit to a class or weekly activity as he's around different days each week. I miss being able to have a long bath in the evening, going for a walk/cycle or even just reading a magazine during the day with a coffee.
