How often do you bath your 2 year old?

Yes I had a south african friend who was horrified at the idea of not bathing every day. She always had 2 showers a day - morning and night. But depending where you live the water can really dry your skin out

Every night for my 2yo and 3yo unless they're ill or very tired. It's part of their routine. I don't understand why children wouldn't need some sort of a wash at the end of the day! My two certainly do, well their hands, faces and bottoms do! They have eczema so it probably isn't ideal for their skin but I would feel neglectful if I didn't put them to bed clean.

princessx that's probably because it's hot in south africa. I used to shower twice a day when I live in Hong Kong and Auckland. You sweat during the day and you definitely feel smelly after a day at school/work. And that's the minimum number of showers I have. If I exercise I also shower in the gym (that'll make it three times a day).

Quick dip in a shallow bath roughly every other morning before nursery, sometimes more depending on if she needs it. A 'big bath' on Sunday evening when I wash and condition her (massive, unruly mane of...) hair and do all the maintenance stiff like cut nails, put lotion on her skin etc.

She has a wash every other, btw, but her skin gets very dry if she baths too often.

No baths as we dont have one. Showering is part of bedtime routine though so LO (2.3) showers every night. LO enjoys it with tub flutes, squirty ducks and squirty Thomas train. She also likes to wash her own face and body with flannel and/or hands and we want to encourage her to do this by herself. We wash her hair only once a week as she has a dry scalp like me. Hair washing has never been fun, but it's only once a week so it's not too bad and is over in seconds with a shower.

Every night, part of bedtime routine. However we live in a hot country so he gets sweaty, plus bare feet most of the time so he gets grubby.

2-3 times a week. I understand when people do it every night as part of a bedtime routine, but from a cleanliness point of view I don't feel that's necessary.

It probably also depends on whether they're potty trained. When you're wiping their bottom with a wet wipe after every nappy change I don't see the need to have a bath, but if they're potty trained and wiping with toilet paper instead, it might be more hygienic to have a bath every day.

Ds is just 3 and has a shower every other night

Once or twice a week here for my 3.8 year old, bad for her skin to do it more often.

Both mine have been bathed every night from birth barring illness or extreme tiredness which is rare. have never found it affects my 2's skin ie made it dry or anything etc. In fact they both have lovely skin and have never had cradle cap either (I wondered if it was because all scurf has been washed from head so never has chance to build up).

Mine were both messy eaters at that age, so pretty much every day.

They still are at 6 & 9 - plus DS2 is still in nappies and gets quite stale and DS1 doesn't wipe very well.

Dd 21 months used to have a bath every evening as she enjoyed it & it signalled the start of bedtime, but she didn't necessarily need a bath everyday. But just recently she's started to loath baths (unfortunately I think she had a bad experience with nappy rash & a slightly too warm bath which stung her bum) and a bath is now a total battle & results in mega tantrums/ hysterics so I now give her a bath 2 or 3 times/ week and wash hands & face every evening instead.

Every night here too. All 3 of my DCs (11, 9 and 2) have a daily bath or shower as do I and DH. We like to be clean

Every night. It was the beginning of winding down...tea at 5, bath at 6, bed by 7.

Every night, always have done with both of them.

They seem to need it, they're filth magnets! It's a lovely time of our day though, we all chat and they play and laugh etc
