20 m old wants to potty train but mum is unprepared

It was so exciting and such a surprise. Yesterday out of the blue DD grabbed at her nappy and tried to climb up and use the toilet. She got up with my help but, poor little thing, after several big grunts only smelly wind came out. Sad

Today nothing happened because she pooed overnight and again during her nap.

I have two questions:

  1. How is the fact that she has these 'sleeping' poos likely to affect toilet training?
  2. Do I need to buy a potty or will a family seat be ok since she obviously isn't put off by the big pot?

Still early stages, but if your dd is interested in toilet then thats great, just buy a toilet seat for her wee bottom, as i say still a wee tad early to be thinking of training, the poos will all fall into place when your dd is trained, if dd is happy to sit on the toilet occasionaly for a pee then thats great, just keep encouraging her
