What has been the longest time you have been away from your child(if at all).

I haven't as yet, but at the end of the year I am planning on going away for a 10 days-it's on work and I can't take dd(4)

Has anyone had experience of this?

custardo - how/where did you send your ds for months?? I'd like to send one of mine there please! he's driving me crazy!

tigermoth · 16/03/2006 19:58

three days last friday, saturday and sunday. It is the first time I have not slept in the same house as my children for nearly 12 years.

Rhubarb · 16/03/2006 20:01

Not long enough. Sigh!

nikkie · 16/03/2006 20:17

dd1 6 days (having dd2 in hosp but she visited everyday!)
apart from this overnights at my mam and das or recently at their dads (before only dd1 stayed)

jac34 · 16/03/2006 20:22

When our DS's were about 4yo we had a 3 night break in Rome.
Since then only the odd night.
A friend is going away this summer and leaving her DS and DD with her mum for about 9 days, while her and DH have a holiday. I don't think I could do that I'd miss them too much.

BettySpaghetti · 16/03/2006 20:29

DD -6 days last summer when she went to stay with in-laws.
DS - 6/7 hours

CelluliteQueen · 16/03/2006 20:32

DH and I had a week in Tenerife last October and left (then) 2yr old DS with my very capable parents. We are going to Lanzarote on Sunday for 4 nights too (on our own). YIPEE! Can't wait! 4* All Inclusive too!!!!

Tortington · 18/03/2006 15:05

littlemissbossy - my dh moved down south 6 months before i did - i had to sort stuff out and sort a job out down south. so dh was living on his todd and i was on mi own with 3 kids. eldest ds was driving me nuts. dh came up to stay over th xmas break and i had ds things packed and said "your taking him back with you" he said " what about schools and stuff?"
"ahh i dunno, not bothered you sort it out" was my response.

so he did!

pebblemum · 18/03/2006 16:05

DS1 has been left with my parents on two occassions while I have gone away for more than a week. The first time he was 3 and the second was when he was 5. He had a great time and hated having to stop to talk to me when I phoned Sad

Since having DS2 though the longest i have left the boys is 1 night. DS2 is too clingy at the moment but DS1 keeps telling me to go away so he can stay with someone. He knows he gets thoroughly spolit, thats why.

cori · 18/03/2006 16:26

4 nights, I went on a short euro break with a friend. DH looked after DS.

2 nights. I've done that several times, but ds is 11 :) Actually, he was away at a camp for 4 nights, so I guess that's the longest.

ponygirl · 18/03/2006 16:41

So far, the longest is 2 nights, and that's only happened twice. Both times were in the last year or so (ds1 is now 7). But am going away in May for 9 nights: my main worry is how much I'm going to miss my cherubs! Sad

threelittlebabies · 18/03/2006 22:30

Away from ds- 2.10 at the time- for 4 nights when had dd, though saw him every day

Not been away from dd much yet, the odd couple of hrs here and there

sparklymieow · 18/03/2006 22:40

3 weeks when I was in hospital, pregnant with dd2, I hated it. since then we have only left them for 3 nights, while my mum has them at her house, and we have a much needed break at the seaside Grin
