thats good misdee. I've missed some of your threads - when do you think he can come home?

Miaou · 09/03/2006 22:00

Are they talkinga about him coming home prior to a transplant misdee?

misdee · 09/03/2006 22:05

need to do anj0other 2 trips out with the VAD team, then 5 trips with just us. his mum is being trained on dressings, OT will be out at some point to get equipment ordered for the home, and once everything is in place he can come home with his machine. he will need INR checks twice a week ,either at clinic or a nurse will come out. weekly clinic at harefield as well. it will be hard work, but worth it.

he cant be left alone at all, so for the school run etc he needs a carer to sit with him at home whilst i go out.

Can he manage stairs etc or do you have a downstairs bedroom?

Miaou · 09/03/2006 22:12

Any date in mind?

misdee · 09/03/2006 22:18

nope. just seeing how it pans out. everything needs to be in palce, nurses here need to be VAD trained, carers will need to be VAD trained, nurses will need to know how to do the dressings as well.

Hi misdee - good luck, I really hope it all goes well. You are an inspiration!

getbakainyourjimjams · 09/03/2006 22:23

misdee do they find the carers for you, or do you have to employ them via dps? Do they have spares in case one is ill? Make sure they give you 6 hours!

misdee · 09/03/2006 22:25

they have to provide them. they have to be fully trained on his equipment. lets hope it all comes together.
