Can I suggest a good book to have a look at to back up your CC? It's the Good Sleep Guide by Angela Henderson. It worked for us and I think it will help reinforce your instincts about doing CC.
I really hope tonight's better, I suspect it will be. The passing nature of the crying perhaps suggests something like trapped wind maybe? You might find a fine set of fangs in the next few days! I think you were right not to ignore it though. I'm a BIG fan of CC but of course you have to know when to sweep up you LO and break all the rules. Naturally you have to retrain baby as well.

I hope you have a better night tonight Alabama !

I really do think you need to establish a better plan - with your OH. You both need to get enough sleep to be able to deal with situations like that.

In the future, one of the 'tactics' I find really useful when I feel like I'm beginning to lose it with DS is just to think to myself "they can't see inside my head!!!" and FAKE IT. Fake being the calm, sensible mummy I know they need even when I am feeling so wound up and screaming on the inside.

But this only works because afterwards I can blow off steam to DH, tell him how cross / upset / knackered I am feeling.

It does sound to me as though you need some RL support. I hope you find it.

I used music with DD. even when screaming
Try Ludivico Einaudi. 'Fly'. DD stopped for the length of it.
I feel your pain good luck, you are a great mum.

OP try not to panic next time this happens. She'll pick up on your mood and won't settle.

I recognise the panic - I get it when things feel like they're getting out of control. Then I can't control myself and get wound up which DCs pick up on and then it's hard to deal with.

It's just a short phase - it will get back to normal again, I promise you.

Has she had anything funny to eat lately? Teething? Separation anxiety? Developmental leap? The last two are most likely given her age - there's a sleep regression at 9 months to contend with.

I second that. It isn't a crappy book full of pretentious crap- it's got genuinely practical advice. Give it a try.

Also, my sister had these sorts of episodes and she responded so well to a really patient, calm environment. I know it's hard and it sounds like stupid advice but she would get so much worse when we were openly stressed in front of her. It was like she could sense it.

Thank you again everyone. Dd prettymuch screamed for hours on end yesterday finally figuered out it was teething with prob some sep anxiety too. She woke at 5am today much more reasonable time to get up 10hours of sleep and she seems better today. I will buy the book and have already had words with oh. Thank you all again.
