THIS MORNING on ITV1 is having a phone in section with a drug consellor on later on this morning

He is going to show all the different drugs and what they look like etc.

And talk about what to look for as far as your children are concerned eg. symtoms and signs

IMHO it will be very informative

and you should watch

RTK, ketamine made it to the Archers several years back. It's the reason why Jazzer is the way he is. Let no-one say I'm ignorant of important issues because I don't have a telly!

I think I'd be honest. Kids decisions to take drugs will rarely be influenced by something their parents did before they were even conceived. I'd be just as concerned about binge drinking as I would be at recreational drug use. Obviously I wouldn't be too happy if ds started to shoot up at weekends, but at the same time I wonder how realistic it is to have the expectation that he will never touch drugs as they are so prevalent in our society.

i went with ds1 to a drug awareness thing aranged by local agencies. i knew about it becuase my husband knew and worked with the agencies and offered to make tea and coffee on the night.

we 2 were the only 2 there. needless to say we got free pens and rulers and i saw lots of fake drugs and learned lots and i was pleased to know that my son only had a good knowledge of weed.

RTKangaMummy the crystal stuff you are describing is crack cocaine, i only now this because when i had a life before my kids i worked in a job that brought me into contact with these things. I have never taken it!!!

tiredemma · 01/02/2006 12:14

I know that i'm very clued up about drugs, had an extremley "recreational" late teenage/early 20's, never touched heroin or crack though. I never took anything that could "hook" me to it.

have seen the absolutly desperate effects of crack cocaine and heroin addiction in my little brother, has not only wrecked his own life but has a massive impact on our family also.

Pre 1985 ones, far far too much. Post 1985 designer ones, probably not enough - but as DD is only 2, I will research this one in a few years' time!
