I've got two essays to write. One for the 13th, one the 16th.

I've done all my post Xmas cleaning and should get on with them really. I've done the essay plans, got the books to reference. Kids at their dads for the day so no excuse really...

I meant to do some today but had guests all day, well my sister and nephew so no chance.

I've got to get on with it or I'm snookered. Not tonight though, I've a busy night of watching crap NYE telly and drinking wine.

I started the first piece after the kids went to bed, word limit 1500 am currently at 988, but the trickiest bit is the evaluation with all the references and I am just starting that.

Not bad going though, which begs the question why I put it off so much......I really do need to get my own laptop back though, dh is 'techie' so his computer is not user friendly and defferently set up.

Good luck everyone and happy studying next year!

HauntedLittleLunatic · 31/12/2011 23:04

I have done nada all day :(

Dtd1 has had major tantrum so I have spent all evening focusing that. I now have a thumping headache and no motivation to even think about turning on laptop...oh well tomorrow is another day...

I have finally started writing the actual essay - have so many saved documents in word about the essay though!! -

It's only 1000 words though - wish it were more as I tend to waffle Blush now trying to write a conclusion - don't even know what the conclusion is apart from "yes I do" Grin

MissMogwi · 02/01/2012 16:07

I find 1000 word essays tough, just not enough room for my waffle. Although right now I'd prefer that to the two 3000 assignments I need to get done.Grin

I'm wearing a chufty badge today as just got some exam results and I passed. Only 65% but I thought I'd failed.

Oneofthechildlessones · 02/01/2012 16:12

Exactly - I'm only 3/4 of the way through my essay and I've used 900 words - think I'm going to call it a day and hope that tomorrow I can condense it - aargh.

Well done on the exam results :) What are you studying?

MissMogwi · 02/01/2012 16:22

I'm studying English. What about you?

I really thought I'd messed that exam up, which would have brought down my average. It's been on my mind over Christmas so I'm relieved! Until the next time Grin

It's hard getting all you want to say into a small amount of words isn't it. I think leaving it for a bit then having another look is the best way. My eyes go funny if I've looked at an essay for too long, and I lose my point.

I'm only a first year - so 2nd essay !! I'm studying a doundation degree in childhood and education studies.

Thank God it's all moduled though as I sure as hell couldn't do exams again!

littleducks · 06/01/2012 11:55

Its not going well here, i am not feeling well and kids are off school sick.Although they seem well enough to run around screaming, they do have temps, dd was sent home before lunch yesterday (first day back) as she had a high temperature.

I have finished my first piece and have handed it in but the second piece of work is 1000 words and due at 2pm.....I started this morning and have done 503 words.

So whilst not technically impossible to finish, it is not easy. Every single day that was a child free study day has been robbed from me due to ill children Sad

littleducks · 06/01/2012 12:01

And cbeebies has just informed them that it is lunchtime! If this piece of work gets a passing mark it will be a miracle

mustdash · 06/01/2012 12:38

aaaaarrrrrrrrrggghhhhhhhh.....

littleducks · 06/01/2012 13:58

mustdash summed it up!
But i am pleased to report my work is submitted, 1085 words @ 5 mins and 21 seconds before the deadline! (I dont dare re read it now incase it is rubbish though)

Now I just need to make sure I start preparing for my upcoming exam rather than allow myself to recover from the stress of today, so its not the same story in two weeks!

JoanRobinson2012 · 06/01/2012 17:42

Well done Littleducks :)

I've finally today got properly stuck in to my assignment due on the 16th and hope to finish it tomorrow. The second one may be more problematical as uni starts back on Monday and H moves house on Tuesday (from 250 miles away to 45 miles away...) and will need/want me to do the unpacking, admin stuff etc. Plus he's coming here overnight on Monday so I really ought to transform the house from student squat to domestic palace on Sunday! :o

MissMogwi · 07/01/2012 17:23

Well done everyone! High fives all round.
I've got 1,500 done on one essay so halfway and then I've got another 3000 to do on another one. I've found it so difficult to get back into it.

However, I will be chucking the kids up to bed early, and I'm aiming to finish the first one tonight.

On a happy note student finance arrives on Monday which is always a joyous day!

JoanRobinson2012 · 07/01/2012 21:55

Well done MissMowgi - hope the kids co-operated!

I've just finished my first and submitted it via Turnitin so I'm not tempted to tweak. :)

It was lovely to log on to my bank this morning and see next terms loan coming in on Monday... mind, a fair chunk of it will also disappear on Monday when I buy the 3 month train season ticket.

HauntedLittleLunatic · 07/01/2012 23:28

I have done.

Well I just need to edit and delete 160 words.

This one has been hell. Don't think I have ever done 5000 words before and this just seems too have sucked so much of my Christmas holiday way :(.

Lesson planning to do tomorrow...

MissMogwi · 12/01/2012 22:43

Arrrgh. Worked my big fat post Xmas arse off to get an essay finished for tomorrow. Realised at the end that got my dates wrong and it's nit due until Monday. Good, yes?
No!
Because the one I thought was for Monday is due tomorrow! I'd only done 900 words! Sob.

My neck hurts, I hate Daniel Defoe, MollFlanders and they ship they sailed in on.

Oh no, what a mix up! How many words does it need to be?

MissMogwi · 12/01/2012 23:33
  1. I'm a bloody fool! It's nearly done, but I've got the horrors now that I've missed the point or something. Think I've been looking at it for too long!

Thankfully I'd done a essay plan, so glad!

Luckily I realised at lunch time or I would be eating lightbulbs by now. It's an online submission so I can wrap it up tomorrow. My poor eyes.

On the very distant plus side, weekend is now free. Grin

MissMogwi · 13/01/2012 14:15

Just finished and emailed it in.

OP posts:
JoanRobinson2012 · 13/01/2012 15:40

Very well done! It's one of my worst nightmare scenarios - i.e. getting the deadline wrong :)

I hope you'll thoroughly enjoy your weekend and spoil yourself!

littleducks · 29/01/2012 16:53

So what were everyone's grades??? Hope everyone did well

Of the two pieces mentioned here I got 70% and 72%, so I am happy....although somewhat concerned that the piece I put so much effort into got a 70 when the piece I wrote in about 5 hours with screaming children as study companions got a slightly better mark!

I'm into the next term now and the next set of deadlines looming Grin
