Where has my patience gone?

As the title says...I am trying to find my patience...last seen about 3 days ago!
I have a DS 17 months...he has had the dreaded sore throat/ cough/cold/teething combo for over a week now. I have been the one looking after him as he only wants mummy (understandably).
The last few days I have been snappy...not in
a nasty/spiteful way...just a fed up way. I feel awful for being like this as its not fair on DS.
Has anyone else felt like this & can help me re-gain the patience which as very selfishly gone AWOL just when I need it most?
Thank you

Well I've put him down for a nap and eaten my sandwiches, but he is still awake kicking the cot bars, argh! I've tidied some mess up but I don't even want to look in the kitchen, it makes me cry!

It took me ten mins to find my bank card cos he's pinched it after I was ordering something online so that I could nip to tesco, I have found keeping the laptop on the sideboard (out of DS's reach, the laptop is another of his obsessions) so I can googlechat with hubby or look at my xmas shopping on amazon has been helping!

I want to go on a Carribean holiday, I'm cold!

What a little monkey summer! At least you have managed to eat something. As for the kitchen I would recommend little & often. I focus on 1 room at a time...especially with a poorly baby.
My DS his my DH garage keys which has his new car in! Grin

I think mine has joined yours too. My 2 year old son is driving me a little insane with his tantrums/ biting/ shouting stage he's in. Time out's left, right and centre here Sad

Oo no tea....it's hard isn't it to find the patience when they have tantrums etc.

Don't get me started on tantrums! I get so fed up with saying 'no' to DS all the time, but he gets hold of things - the remote, the kitchen broom, my phone, the home phone, keys - why won't he play with his toys!

I need to hoover the house but I can't do it with him around, he is obsessed with the hoover, he grabs hold of it, grabs the cable and pulls the biggest strop when i put it away!

Tantrums are quite funny though, DS throws himself on the floor and scoots along on his back screaming, as patience has bogged off, sense of humour has to sometimes step in to see the other side of the situation!

wifey6 · 16/12/2011 15:19

Wow summer the similarities are spooky!
I agree about sense of humour (one of the things I have left...just about)!

I would have loved to have got out more this week, have just moved house so don't know anyone and was planning on seeing what the local children's centre had to offer, not sure other parents would be so impressed with the newbie who brings a streamy nosed coughing child! Ah at least he enjoys going to tesco Grin

After nap he's easier cos I get him excited about Daddy coming home and sometimes get post nap cuddles!

wifey6 · 16/12/2011 15:55

Grin summer. Hope you settle in well in your new home. Smile

Go for a walk round the block (or whatever) when your DH gets in.

Francagoestohollywood · 16/12/2011 16:06

You really need to go for a walk once your dh is back, you poor thing.
Even if ds only wants mummy. But you need a break! (been there, done that)

wifey6 · 16/12/2011 16:09

We've had pretty bad snow so I'm going to hold off going out for a walk tonight. I have work Saturday & Sunday for a few hours each day so that will help me re-charge. It's not that I mind...I'm his mummy so I would do anything for him...but I do need a bit of me-time & fresh air! Work is better than wallowing in germs Grin

Summers - where have you moved to

Feeling much better now both of mine are in bed. Tomorrow's a new day Smile

MCos · 16/12/2011 21:00

It will come back once you get some proper sleep. Guaranteed!

wifey6 · 16/12/2011 21:36

Sleep...chocolate..new handbag! Smile
Tomorrow is another day & a chance to start again. I have work for a few hours & that always gives me time to reflect.....you can tell I work hard can't you!! Grin

tea I have moved to Buckinghamshire, only ten miles from where we were before, to a bigger house near DHs work to allow for our imminent arrival!

Bedtime is a relief sometimes, DS was all cuddly and cute after nap, he sat next to me and bump on the sofa watching the cbeebies panto, usually the tv doesn't hold his attention for that long!

I'd love some real sleep, DH is keeping me well stocked with cadbury buttons which is awesome.

How much snow have you had wifey? Fresh air is good, even if it is bloody freezing!

Teaandchristmascakeplease · 16/12/2011 23:33

Ahhh probably not that far from me. I'm in Herts near Watford. I used to work in Gerrards Cross before children. Buckinghamshire is lovely.

I ought to go to bed or I won't have the patience needed for tomorrow either Grin

wifey6 · 17/12/2011 07:09

summer...we've had quite a bit so would struggle to get pram around.
However...the rain has washed it away over night so after work we are all going to spend some family time together.Smile
The sofa snuggles & cbeebies sounds lovely (&familiar).

Hi ladies....patience found today near a lovely lake me & my family were sat by having our lunch! It was lovely to get outside & enjoy time as a family. DH is often busy so we never get quality time...but we did today & whilst sat by the lake....it snuck up on me!
I felt emotionally calm & happy...first time in ages. Smile
