PGCE application - I'm an old gimmer who has no record of GCSE results.

Any idea what I do? It's 23 years since I got my GCSEs, I know what I got but I can't prove it and I certainly have no idea who the examining body was.

Similar issue on my degree. I do at least have my degree certificate but the application form requires a breakdown of the subject areas - it's 17 years since I did it, I have no idea what I did.

The problem is that there is no flexibility on the form, these are 'required fields'.

Anyone else had this problem?

Ask your school for their record, likewise your university for your transcript. Most are happy to help.

Will they do that? Wonderful. I will call.

Thanks fraktious.

Excellent. University is sending me an email, Sixth Form confirmed over the phone and school will write to me if I send them a cheque.

I also didn't realise that all the examining bodies will provide duplicate certificates if asked (although for a not-insignificant fee).

I hope you get something from your university. Mine was an ex-poly and I was told that all pre-1992 records were destroyed Shock

said they did originally say that they only kept records for 6 years! I think they have managed to find something though
